Talk:Smash Bros. DOJO!! updates
Do we really need this? – Smiddle ( Talk • Conts ) 15:02, June 13, 2007 (EDT)
- No, not really, but this is the result of a compromise. Before there was an separate article for every single update, so just be happy that we agreed on condensing it all into a single article.Thores 15:31, June 13, 2007 (EDT)
- From my understanding, SmashWiki does not play by all the rules of normal Wikipedia, as evidenced by how we have seemingly a thousand articles on what amounts to players of the games. I'll always find that aspect of the wiki questionable, but this page and any other page at this level should be kept because I find it a good deal more useful than a page on an obscure Smasher. When Brawl is released, this will merely serve as a log of how info was revealed, which might be interesting to some enthusiasts. I believe there was a category and template used in the old update pages that will no longer be used, so those should be deleted. Erik the Appreciator 12:42, June 14, 2007 (EDT)
Apparently this page is important: it's got 740 page views in the span of a week. I think there's a level of actual usefulness in having this on here; the updates on Dojo, in displaying info about the game, sometimes imply things that may or may not actually be meant by the site, while at other times updates are vaguely worded and open to interpretation. Today's Wario update talks about Wario's martial art that can't be seen by opponents; some readers think it refers to his odd animations from the previous trailer, while others think it's about his flatulence. In having this page on SmashWiki we can more clearly demonstrate to readers what is actually said and said not in each Dojo update, and make notes of what is currently unknown about certain aspects of what each update reveals. - Not disagreeing with you or anything, but at least 100 of those pageviews was me making edits : P Thores 19:30,` June 20, 2007 (EDT)

- Well, heheh, I don't think we were contesting the importance of the updates to the Smash Bros. community, but whether an article for each individual update could possibly work as well as a list of updates. Erik the Appreciator 03:19, July 30, 2007 (EDT)

Upside down[edit]
I think the page would look better if it were upside down. if it was in order from most recent to least, it would be better. anyone want to do it, or i'll do it tomorrow--Idontgottaname 20:57, June 21, 2007 (EDT)
- Please don't. I'd much rather we kept it in chronological order. -Thores 22:09, June 21, 2007 (EDT)
- I'd have to agree with Thores. Theoretically, upside down would work if this page was meant to be just parroting the Dojo site itself as a sort of daily newsletter, but this is more meant to be a log of the updates. Once Brawl is released there'd be no more updates to add here. By then people would want the page here as a document enshrining when and how the updates were posted here like a timeline, and timelines are usually from earliest to most recent. Erik the Appreciator 21:14, June 22, 2007 (EDT)
Although... It just occured to me now that if the release date for Brawl is way over in December, and assuming updates will be posted right up until then, this page will end up being a long, long page! Perhaps the biggest on SmashWiki. I'm thinking now that maybe we should reverse the chronology so that users can see what's new right when they load the page. Comments? If not, I'll do it sometime. Erik the Appreciator 02:00, July 16, 2007 (EDT)
- No wait, still don't! I think maybe we should start spitting this article into sections when things start getting more massive (Dojo updates Weeks 1-5, etc), but I think it's imperative that we're able to read these updates from beginning to end. If I want to see the most recent update first, then, well... I go to the actual website : P -Thores 04:27, July 16, 2007 (EDT)
- An ordered series of articles talking about Dojo's updates? Well, if you have an effective plan in mind, I guess I'll leave it up to you to implement that yourself. If it'll solve the future length problem, then I say go for it. Erik the Appreciator 02:10, July 17, 2007 (EDT)
- The page has now become 32kb and is notifying me of it whenever I edit, so maybe now is the time to implement the plan for solving the length problem. The best idea I can come up with is to put all previous updates in Smash Bros. DOJO!! updates (archive) and start this page over, starting with the Pokemon Trainer updates. Unable to update[edit]
Hey, for Erik and anyone else wondering where I've been, I just finished moving from one home to another. My main computer currently has no access to internet, and my only method of checking Dojo and this Wiki at the moment is the Internet Channel on my Wii. Due to limits of the browser's word count for typing things, and the excruciatingly long time it takes to type with the dang thing, I can't update this article or the other ones I've been contributing to till further notice. Thanks for filling in on this article in my absence Erik, I'll take over again when I return (if that's okay with you anyways, since you're the kind of the father of this page). Same goes for the general character articles, I'll work on them again when I return, which will hopefully be within the next week. Take care. -Thores 21:04, July 3, 2007 (EDT)
- Well, thanks, but Einstein is the father of the atomic bomb, and we know of the worldly sentiments attached to that image... But anyway, if that's the choice, then I think I would have you write another character article while leaving the updates to me. :) Erik the Appreciator 03:21, July 4, 2007 (EDT)
Solution![edit]
I think I have a solution to the Updates. Maybe have a page for every month! Smart Idea huh? Zmario 18:11, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- There are several archives of the updates. I see no reason to deviate from that pattern; whenever the page grows big, we make it smaller. --Sky (t · c · w) 20:43, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
DLC[edit]
It seems that the guy making SSBB (forgot his name) hinted at DLC on the last update. What do you guys make of it? Mr.Domono 20:35, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know what you're talking about. - Gargomon251 20:55, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Grasping at straws with the "There’s always a chance that I will need to update sometime in the future with some kind of announcement." line. He's not going to have DLC. --Phred 21:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, THAT. I think that's just referring to release dates, more snapshots, or maybe some obscure techniques they may add later? - Gargomon251 21:34, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Post-Run Updates[edit]
WTF? That was fast and completely unnoticed by everyone else. I was just on the main page yesterday to get Brawl pics for my phone, and then THIS happens. Sakurai shouldn't just surprise us like that, you know what I mean? On a side note, no school today either.
Won't be back from 6 or so til maybe the end of the weekend. Enzeru (talk) 12:29, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
