Image Request[edit]
For documentation's sake, I believe there should be images of 1) Spirit List entries for whom a rematch was previously completed (with a darkened Spirits icon and a recorded high score), and 2) Spirit List entries for spirits from unowned Challenger Packs purchased from the Vault/obtained via Classic Mode plus any associated "You do not own this content"-esque notifications. If anyone can provide these for the article, it would be most appreciated. DevNode (talk) 14:28, January 16, 2021 (EST)
- I can try to get those here in a bit. If I recall the game doesn't even give the option to fight Challenger Pack spirits without the Challenger Pack, but I'll be able to check when I'm getting the other images. --CanvasK (talk) 14:34, January 16, 2021 (EST)
- As I thought there's not even an option to rematch a Challenger Pack spirit without the pack, it just shows it like any other spirit without a spirit battle.
- Though I found something very interesting. After deleting my download data and updating (to get rid of DLC) I noticed that some event spirits had no images and instead used a placeholder. This is weird because I know I'm on Ver. 10.1.0 and this screenshot even shows DLC spirits being unaffected. Toy-Con Car shows properly but not Ryuichi & Ryuji. I should've checked on my 100% account to see if there is a cutoff; I already re-updated so it will take some time. --CanvasK (talk) 15:25, January 16, 2021 (EST)
- I've checked on my 100% profile and after Peachette is when placeholders are used. I find this interesting because 4.0.0 was the last update to make an event spirit available (being Peachette), all others are after a certain date (one date was hours before 7.0.0 but was still included in the patch notes). These spirits are fully fight-able on the spirit board and you'll get the spirit properly but with the placeholder image... in airplane mode. Having access to the internet and going to the spirit board will automatically download the relevant BCAT data. According to Random Talking Bush on spriters-resource, this is the "changes in the backend regarding event-based Spirits" that makes it difficult to get the sprites for recent events: BCAT data is stored differently. --CanvasK (talk) 22:19, January 16, 2021 (EST)
- Fascinating. I had encountered this too back in March, according to my own screenshots. By my recollection it had also retroactively affected spirits I had previously obtained and seen the artwork of before, and I did remember finding it curious that the sprites weren't saved to the system after their initial download (I presume I hadn't deleted and reinstalled any SSBU files around that time given I was still using my console for tournament setups and therefore needed my 100% save on deck). Thank you again, both for the images and for taking the time to find out the cause of the placeholder phenomenon. DevNode (talk) 22:44, January 16, 2021 (EST)
