Talk:Mr. Saturn
Is there a chance that a Mr. Saturn might explode? In the Smash Fighter short Who Dun It, a Mr. Saturn exploded on Falco. Wolf explained there is a chance of exploding. He had seen a lot of Mr. Saturns before that. However, this article doesn't mention exploding.--SeanWheeler (talk) 21:51, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
- What you saw was most likely a hack. Or, you might have confused Mr. Saturn with a Bob-omb, creatures that DO explode. One can hack a game to change the effects of items. BNK [E|T|C] 22:02, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
Saturn v. Everyone[edit]
Since it's a major part of his its(?) schtick as an item (and it's mentioned a lot), shouldn't this article include Shield Breaking data for all Mr. Saturn throws in both games? Probably in the table already present... --Oasidu (talk) 00:46, 7 November 2013 (EST)
- Yeah it should. It doesn't matter which throw is used though, only normal damage changes based on velocity, not extra shield damage. Toomai Glittershine The Engineer 10:06, 7 November 2013 (EST)
Infobox image[edit]
How is the spirit/sticker image unofficial? The only difference between it and the infobox image is the model being shown on a different angle. Otherwise, the model itself is identical on both of them. Nokii — 17:46, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
- We tend not to use spirit renders as the character renders in infoboxes. The model may look similar but that doesn't change this. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 17:49, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
- More or less comes down to: if there's existing artwork that's higher quality than the spirit, we use that, but if there isn't (like for Excitebike or Saki Amamiya), we use the spirit. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 19:33, October 12, 2019 (EDT)
- Huh, now that got me thinking... Ness's infobox image is his spirit render so should that be changed? SupαToαd64, the Best 04:51, October 15, 2019 (EDT)

- As an amendment to what Alex said: there's currently no rule against using spirit renders as infobox images, especially when they're the highest quality image available that meets the page's needs (see Dracula, Tac, Plasma Wisp, Jeff, etc.). A while ago, there was a user who was replacing a bunch of infobox images so they'd be different from the spirit renders, but most of the replacements were either lower quality or not a clear illustration, so many of these were reverted. The only time we deliberately avoid using spirit renders is when they were created specifically for Smash, since we try to use something from the home series instead (see Cucco, Starman, etc.); this doesn't apply to Mr. Saturn or Ness, since they both appear to be the original models from Earthbound.
- In this case, the current image for Mr. Saturn's infobox is good enough quality that we don't need to replace it with the spirit render (which seems to be the same photograph used for the Brawl sticker), but they should both be treated as official artwork from Earthbound (unlike this render, which was created specifically for Ultimate). As for Ness, the spirit render is higher quality than any other picture of Ness's official model, so that's why we use the spirit in the infobox. Does this help clear things up? --PeabodySam (talk) 21:58, October 15, 2019 (EDT)
