His videos use footage from old Nintendo games as well as Melee to describes the similarities and differences between both games. While casual players may notice some similarities, his videos go in depth on all the details, often finding things no one else would. In short, he is a historian, of sorts. CrappyCaptureDevice (sometimes shortened CCD) was a renowned historian of the content that appears in the Super Smash Bros. series based on previous games. His video series explaining the history behind different in-game elements of the Smash games, entitled "History Behind Super Smash Bros.," was considered by many the definitive history of these games. CrappyCaptureDevice's videos used footage from source games as well as Melee and Brawl to describe the similarities and differences between the relevant games. As of December 1, 2011, CrappyCaptureDevice indefinitely suspended the History Behind Super Smash Bros. Brawl project over reasons he did not disclose, just saying in his tweet that he had no choice in the matter, and has been completely inactive on YouTube and his Twitter ever since. His Twitter account was later suspended in early 2022 for unknown reasons.
History Behind Super Smash Bros.
The History Behind Super Smash Bros. series are all videos related to the showcase of where some things from the Super Smash Bros. series come from. They were started on December from 2006 by CrappyCaptureDevice, by explaining the origins from the character's moves in Super Smash Bros. Melee. CCD soon got popular on YouTube and continued with his series of videos, alongside some tutorials of how he does them. When SSBB got released, some people asked CCD if he will do the same with that game, and he answered: "possibly but not right away", but also mentioned that he would like to see what other people can do. Since then, many people have posted their own Brawl videos. Some good examples are honeymustardn and GamesinGeneral, and some others focused on special things like SHYKOOPA (focused on the music part) and LuigiBowser2 (focused on things related to Characer's Victory Scenes). So, it's safe to say that the project, at least for now, had been worked on by the YouTube community in general, and it's safe to say that anyone who want to post some videos related, then there shouldn't be any problem. CCD has officially started his SSBB history videos. As of now, the only video up is the history of the Tetris Type A song.

The History Behind Super Smash Bros. series was started in December 2006 with the origins of the characters' movesets in Super Smash Bros. Melee. CrappyCaptureDevice's popularity on YouTube increased and he continued with his series of videos, alongside some tutorials of how he does them, in time documenting the history of stages, music and other elements as well. Upon the release of Brawl, CCD was asked if he would do the same style of historical analysis with the new Smash game, to which he answered that he might do so but not immediately. Before CCD began his videos on the history of Brawl, many others on YouTube made similar history videos to explain elements of the game's history.
