Venue controversy[edit]

The original venue location was in the Columbus eSports Center at the Polaris mall. On the first day of the tournament, many people noted how cramped the space was and blamed the 2GG administrators for allowing the tournament to run at a terrible venue. 2GG responded by moving the tournament to Dave and Busters on the second day, where the tournament ran without much problems.

After the tournament, Ohio TO LunickTMM revealed that none of the Ohio tournament administrators were involved in the process of hosting the tournament, as 2GG was secretly contracted by an unknown group of people, who he suspected were the people at Columbus eSports Center.[1] However, in a separate post, another Ohio TO, Sam Moore, stated that while both 2GG and Columbus eSports Center were at fault, most of the fault was towards a particular, unnamed individual; Moore further stated that this individual lied to 2GG, Columbus eSports Center, and Polaris Mall about the venue quality and who was setting up, as well as ABC, telling them it was a Fortnite qualifier instead. This led to the chaotic first day of the tournament where no one knew where the venue was; there was no internet access and, therefore, no stream; and many people complained about the quality of the venue. The individual hasn't been heard from since and has "ghosted" everyone who had tried to contact them. [2]

Because of the fallout and controversies of this event, 2GGaming would later hold another event in Ohio, 2GG: Run it Back, this time with help from Ohio's tournament organizers and using COST 2019's venue.
