Isai]]Quick Attack is Pikachu's Up B move.

Pikachu does a quick dash in one direction, and then if one tilts the control stick, Pikachu can dash in a second direction. The high speed of this move renders Pikachu nearly invulnerable, but it's exposed at the beginning, middle, and end moments, when it briefly holds still. Quick Attack requires much practice before players can effectively take advantage of its two-direction functionality.

Smash 64 In Super Smash Bros., this attack did no damage. However, it was overall by far the strongest recovery. One of the reasons why pikachu is top tier is due to his incredible recoverry. Pikachu has multiple invincibilty frames during the beginning and middle. It is possible to attack pikachu in the beginning frame and the ending frame ONLY (also while pikachu is in its falling animation afterwards). Due to invincibility frames also, pikachu if done perfectly cannot be hit by constantly going down then up and up b'ing into the edge becuse the edge invincibility frames as well. This is demonstrated in an andgar video. The range of the up b also allows pikachu to go far out from the edge to edgeguard, see most of Isai's pikachu for examples. It is possible also to go the same direction twice by tilting it ever so slightly the second time (see andgar agan, called double quick attack). It is also possible by forcing pikachu to the ground during the second section of his recovery or first very quickly, it is possible to move around during it and combo. It is also possible using this to the taunt cancel into quick attack cancel into taunt cancel (etc). This was done in an andgar video also. Finally, it can be used to escape situations and can go through a portion of the wall in break the targets (used in world record board the platforms).

Melee Starting in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikachu can do light damage to characters it passes through. The attack has a huge range, but the second jump requires a minimum rotation of 38 degrees. It is overall weaker than smash 64 with less invincibility frames. You can also QAC (quick attack cancel)like smash 64 but it is overall quicker.

Brawl It is overall stronger in damage but less range than melee. It has more invincibility frames however by the edge. People use forward b to recover a lot more often because it has less range. It is possible to QAC after the first or second hit. See Phanna's brawl tech video for QAC'ing.

Quickstix

This is a technique whereby Pikachu racks up damage against an enemy in a rather annoying cycle, named after the attack name and the quick movement of the control stick. Pikachu uses Quick Attack and tilts to pass through the opponent, and then returns back through the opponent by pulling a 180°. This does 5% damage, and does not suffer from Stale-Move Negation. Although this attack has some lag time once it finishes, due to the distance separation, one can start it up again, and Quickstix the opponent again and again.

  • In cases where Pikachu starts too close to an enemy, i.e. pulling 180° would leave Pikachu back next to an enemy during his lag time, it is wiser to continue to move in the initial direction but also diagonally up. Therefore, by combining 180s with escaping, this move can be used to play mind games on the enemy and slowly rack up the damage.
  • In brawl, the CPU's do use Quickstix, pulling a 180, but do not try and use it again and again, as human Quicksickers do.

Origins

Quick Attack is a Pokémon move that does light damage (40 BA), and always goes first (if both pokemon use Quick Attack, the one with higher speed goes first, as with ordinary moves).
