Stage jump

Revision as of 13:10, August 14, 2016 by Monsieur Crow (talk | contribs) (Honestly, most of this article is a game guide, and I don't think a "list of stages where players can stage jump" would be terribly useful.)

The editor who added this tag suggests: should have at least one gif or even still image of someone performing the New Pork City and Final Destination jumps, if those sections are there

The editor who added this tag believes this page should be cleaned up for the following reason: Overfocus on Brawl when stage jumps (the ones performable by a majority of characters) exist in almost all games

A stage jump refers to the act of travelling under a stage with a character and returning on the other side. They can be performed on any stage that has a large, hard platform and can be jumped under, such as on Smashville or Hyrule Temple. As the undersides of stages are long in distance and require the player to prevent themselves from crossing the lower blast line, most stage jumps can only be performed by a small pool of characters, such as Jigglypuff or Meta Knight. In all the games, the Temple jump is the most well-known stage jump, due to the stage appearing in Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4's Wii U version.

Stage jumps can be performed in all games of the series, as all the installments have featured multiple stages that can accommodate the technique. They can be used to potentially surprise opponents while recovering, though many stage jumps can only be performed on stages that are not tournament legal, such as Corneria or New Pork City.
