The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters. |
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Please also fix old results on Smasher pages that do not abide to this standard. Refer to our Smasher article guidelines to see how results tables should be formatted. |

Hello! My name is Daniel, and I am an avid smasher who has been playing Smash in some form since I was 6, and still love it to this day. I started out playing Smash on the N64, completely missed Melee somehow and went straight to Brawl, and then disowned Brawl once I discovered how good Smash 4 was by comparison.
I Have Opinions
I believe each game has its own merits, and that no one Smash game is "the best." My personal belief is that Smash 64 is the best in that it gave the franchise its start (and okay I have some nostalgia-goggles for it), Melee is the best for playing competitively, Brawl has the best story mode (Subspace Emissary is SWEET), and Smash 4 is the best for just having a fun time with your friends.
My Melee Education
I really enjoy playing Smash 4, but it has recently started to become a little bit stale for me in terms of competitive play. I then decided to take up Melee, since all of my more hardcore-smasher friends were playing it. I quickly encountered the problem of never having owned a GameCube before, so I had to spend multiple weeks just getting adjusted to the bizarre controller layout. I have now gotten used to the controller, so I no longer SD as much because I can't find the B or Y button. While I aspire to one day be good at Melee, I don't see that happening anytime soon, considering I still haven't even gotten the hang of wavedashing, much less any techs.
Tournament Experience
So far my only Smash tournament experience has been the MAGfest 2016 Smash for WiiU tournament. I was the first player eliminated in the first game of the first round, because I decided to play Jigglypuff in an 8-player smash. In retrospect, this was probably a bad idea, and I would've been better off with Captain Falcon. Someday I hope to attend a Smash @ Xanadu once I become more confident in my abilities.
Significant Contributions
- I added ALL of the tournament results to the Smash @ Xanadu page, and continually update it with more results once every couple of weeks. It was my first major contribution to this Wiki, and I feel a certain personal ownership of that page
- I also updated the S@X logo
- I splitted the Blaster page into Blaster (Fox) and Blaster (Falco)
- Various cleanups
