"This is the only dodge that does not move the character"

I think with the way air dodging works in Brawl this statement is rendered incorrect, so I've corrected it to say in the original and melee Ike's Best Buddy/ Bird Of PreyDon't try me

The original doesn't have sidestepping. - Hatake91 (talk) 21:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't understand. "In Melee, it's also the only one out of the three that does not move the character. " -more info on this is needed. Zixor (talk)
It's referring to the fact that it's the only dodge that does not move the character. Friedbeef1 1/26/09! 22:23, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I understand; thanks. Zixor (talk) 15:28, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Duration?

Does anyone know how many frames the invincibility lasts for? That information could be useful... 64.221.210.35 19:16, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

-It's different for each character. This would indeed be useful info. -Zixor (talk) 13:26, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

In Brawl, some characters sidestep will not let you slide forward, like Ganondorf, of Pit. But it will work on characters like Mario or Luigi. Smashdude10 10:17, 26 January 2014 (EST)

Rename?

I think it would be best to just rename this page to "Spotdodge". No one uses the official name much like no one uses "ukemi" for teching or "strong" for tilts. And we do have that policy that "We are not official", yet we still insist on using mostly official names. Quillion (talk) 14:12, 13 January 2015 (EST)

Rename

You don't do a sidestepping. You do a sidestep. Smashedpotatoes (talk) 17:57, 11 September 2015 (EDT)

Strong support. You don't do a sidestepping, You do a sidestep. Also, Remember the Dash vs. Dashing scenario? (Same opinion as Smashedpotatoes and John3637881) INoMed, King of Demons (Talk) 14:50, 13 September 2015 (EDT)

One Extra Frame?

On KH in Smash 4, most of the characters have one extra frame of animation for their sidestep compared to this list. The only ones that don't are Corrin and Bayonetta, which are the same, and that's what is making me suspicious. Should I go ahead and make the changes? Gold Goldsig.png 15:00, 11 April 2016 (EDT)

The difference is that KH lists the first actionable frame (FAF) of the sidesteps, whereas this article lists the frames they take before an action is possible. This is also the case for rolls and air dodges. You can change it to the former if you want, though, as seeing how KH and specific attack articles in this wiki (like this one) use FAF/interruptibility, it might be more comfortable that way. 034.png DracoRex the Dino King (RAWR!) 15:39, 11 April 2016 (EDT)
The chart was outdated anyway, so I adjusted the values and used total instead of FAF. Gold Goldsig.png 16:32, 11 April 2016 (EDT)
