Abate is a smasher from New Jersey currently residing in Pittsburgh who mains Luigi in Melee. He is considered one of the best Luigi mains in the world along with Eddy Mexico, Blea Gelo and Vudujin. Originally a Falco main, he used Luigi as a counterpick character. After taking inspiration from fellow Pittsburgh Luigi player, Vudujin, he has used Luigi as his main character of choice, overthrowing his inspiration as the best Luigi. He has placed consistently high at most tournaments he participates in and has taken sets off of top smashers, including Hax, Cactuar, Westballz, VaNz, Axe,Duck, and S2J. Abate is currently ranked 1st on the Pittsburgh Melee Power Rankings and is also ranked 34th on the 2014 SSBM Player Rankings.
