SmashWiki:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive 7
The Administrators' noticeboard is intended to be a page to quickly alert the administrators to issues that need their attention.
To make a request or statement, create a new section and provide a neutral, precise summary of events with thought-out reasoning, and, if possible, links to any pages with relevant discussions. It is also a good idea to notify any users involved with the request with a link to the section on this page. Make sure to add new sections to the bottom.
Report vandals and sockpuppets at the top of the appropriate section labeled for such reports at the using {{IP|Username}}, where Username is the name of the user or the IP vandal's IP address.
For reporting similar and unacceptable usernames, report them here instead of on this page. This is done to keep the reports in one place, and because unacceptable usernames can be more subjective (unlike vandal/spam accounts), which may necessitate discussion (which the linked page will be more suited to handle).

Template protection request
Judging by the recent edits on Template:Sonic universe, the template should be at least semi-protected, to prevent someone (especially an IP) from adding in unsourced/unproven info about DLC. Berrenta (talk) 14:26, 7 August 2015 (EDT)
Other policy breaking
1337 B33FC4K3 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log · B33FC4K3 WHOIS)
Look, I know he's super-talented and knows everything or something stupid like that, but he's an absolute jerk who really doesn't deserve to be on the internet at all, much less be a highly-respected user whose opinion is taken as fact. Heck, he was being a jerk to Miles (who I've stated my typical disdain for) and I still wanted to smack him across the head. Keeping him around despite his constant and ignorant breaking of SW:NPA makes this wiki miserable and makes the entire concept of NPA seem irrelevant, because no one really cares. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Speaking of Miles, I feeling like I'm ain't trusting his admin abilities either since June 2014. Even though I am known to be hostile to Brian, I am more concerned about Miles and his admin judgment. Dots (talk) The Missingno. 00:40, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

- i'd also like to point out that this was a request for something to be done about Brian. Requests for something to be done about Miles, who hasn't really broken any policies, should be taken somewhere else.
- in related news, can someone do something about brian ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 16:34, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- True, Nutta. I'm surprised after all this time, Miles, Toomai, or OT have not done anything about this. Ganonmew (talk) 16:43, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- Its either that they feel bad for him because I, myself, provoke Brian a lot or they actually like his knowledge despite other users' complaints. :P Dots (talk) The Missingno. 17:59, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

- Same goes with PSIWolf. Their rude attitude to everyone they meet is why I am hostile to both of them. Not to mention, the latter basically flipped off the entire wiki, including Miles, who is an admin. Dots (talk) The Achiever 18:27, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

Here's what I think:
- Brian needs to have this conversation pointed out to him
- Any blocking needs a warning and a repeat offense first. We do not have this.
That's all Serpent King (talk) 21:42, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- I can get 1 out of the way. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 21:45, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

- We can, and this is the correct victory fanfare. And you all know it. [2] Serpent King (talk) 22:10, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- Serpent King and Nutta Butta: To say this in other talk page case, you can work with him or against him. In this case, it appears that you guys are working against him. I see him having an issue respecting with other users when I saw it on recent changes and talk page. Either he could of not brought that shit up in summary in the first place or it is user's problem, regarding metagame evolution and his strong knowledge, which means a conflict. It's more like you edit something and it is false on attributes and metagame, you provoked a knowledgable user with attitude issues. This is more like example from Wikipedia saying "Please be a giant dick, so we can ban you." I hate it when that happens,
but I got used to that.He can say something harsh to my face whatever he wants, but I'm totally indifferent with his behavior, while I know some other knowledge. - To everyone who received his harsh behavior: I can't say this but feel sorry for you guys. Luigi540 (talk) 23:24, 21 August 2015 (EDT)

Okay seriously you people. At this point you're all at just as much fault for instigating as your target is, it's honestly kind of a witch hunt by now to the point where it's difficult to take any of you seriously. If I believe that Brian crosses a line, I deal with it. Until then, I'm tired of hearing this subject get overblown. Toomai Glittershine The Eggster 23:48, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- I don't think I've ever joined in on this type of discussion at all besides at one point mentioning to Brian quite calmly that he should calm down. I feel like this is some form of favoritism, because if any other user did anything like Brian does they would get banned on the spot. I don't see why you don't realize how uncomfortable it makes a majority of the wiki. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 23:57, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
- And how would you tell if Brian crossed the line? Just because he has the best competitive Smash knowledge outside Jamal (which yes, I would agree that the competitive section of SmashWiki has grown a lot since 2012 but is still developing) means that he's basically more important than other regular users, and that admins can't afford blocking him regardless if he breaks policies? Dots (talk) The SNES 00:27, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- I want to make this very clear. I have no personal vendetta with Brian. We've never really disagreed or even interacted on this wiki or anywhere else. I just see his behavior towards those who he does have disagreements with, and that's what I have a problem with. Also, I do not necessarily want him blocked, I just wish he'd cool it a little: incorrectness does not warrant rudeness. Serpent King (talk) 00:30, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- Yeah, I kinda wished for the users on SnashWiki to get along better. Ever since 2012 started (when Mousehunter321 started hating on me), the wiki has quite honestly became hostile grounds where people harshly argue on nearly everything. Dots (talk) The 20XX player 00:48, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- 'Brian crosses a line, I deal with it.
- He's been violating basic standards and guidelines of the wiki since late 2013. He puts down other people because they don't see like he does. He personally attacks. He's been very disrespectful and hateful to many people, like Epsilon (honestly, Epsilon should not be vandalizing the wiki like he did, but that's not an excuse), Dots, me, and just any user who is inexperienced. He blames a fallout with OT for this. This is what he has been doing since 2013, we need to do something. Like Dots said, just because we lose a knowledgeable user, doesn't mean that his behavior is acceptable. Ganonmew (talk) 09:24, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- I wouldn't blame Brian if he's harsh on users who are actually doing their shit wrong. Smash Master and the aforementioned Epsilon do somewhat deserved it, and for the former's case, he was treated pretty poorly by everybody on this wiki in 2012. Dots (talk) The Engineer 12:28, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- Apologies to Toomai and Luigi540 for bouncing back on this, but Dots, there is a difference between being harsh and personally attacking. It's ok to get a little impatient, but that is no excuse to call someone incompetent and tell them that they are not allowed to edit a wiki everyone is supposedly allowed to. Ganonmew (talk) 14:54, 22 August 2015 (EDT)

Dots (talk) The Engineer 12:28, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
This compliant again. I'm tired of that. Y'all guys (especially you Ganonmew)(except Toomai) need to stop talking about the same subject again. Okay. We all get that about his behavior and I will have to agree with Dots about not blaming Brian for being harsh on users who is doing something wrong. I would blame at someone if someone said something harsh with wrong edits (like having bad knowledge) or do nothing on constructive edits and make personal attacks. Time will tell if Brian crosses the line. Anyways, keep complaining about the same subject and you are wasting your time, not mine or someone else. Luigi540 (talk) 12:54, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- In addition, I don't even think Brian would even care to see this discussion. Dots (talk) The Shiny red nose 12:56, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
- Perhaps this may shed some light on the topic? I dunno. Aidan, Master of Speed and Aura 13:00, 22 August 2015 (EDT)
Oh no my name was mentioned (even though I kinda saw that coming, I was pretty stubborn then). Smash Master 14:53, 29 August 2015 (EDT)
Although I hate talking about this further, the reason why Brian is a jerk and is targeted by you guys is simply because he's one of those Melee players who are hostile to Brawl and Smash 4 (although recently he does not hate the former as much as the latter), as they simply see them as inferior, if not completely inferior, to Melee. As OT and I are Brawl/Smash 4 players ourselves, I would admit that sure we both get annoyed with Brian as well but we at the same time, were hostile back to him. There are times when Brian disrespect others but you guys don't have to be hostile back to him. Dots (talk) The Smiley 18:18, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
- Well Toomai did tell him to refrain from contributing to Smash 4 knowledge (I even asked him why he still does if he hates it, but of course he didn't answer), but he didn't listen, and we were not using personal attacks like this, so our hostility is justified. Ganonmew (talk) 19:51, 1 September 2015 (EDT)
