Steeler was a dedicated Pokémon Trainer Main in the Midwest region. He personally preferred to use Squirtle and Charizard through out his matches, using Ivysaur more sparingly due to the Pokémon's sub-par tether recovery. Squirtle was by far his best Pokémon, being a very powerful force against most opponents; his Charizard was capable of doing very well against tougher characters such as Meta Knight. He had been known to use Ivysaur for specific matchups but generally avoided the character. He was once considered to be one of the best Pokémon Trainer mains, especially in the Midwest and Southwest. He placed fairly high in Kansas tournaments and retired after placing 33rd at MLG Dallas 2010. Steeler was very active in the Pokémon Trainer community and was at one time in charge of matchup discussions. He had no declared doubles partner, having teamed up at various times with Inferno (Team Russian Roulette), Affinity, and even a Level 9 Pikachu. Steeler is once again active in his local SSB4 scene, regularly placing in the money at the tournaments he attends.

Trivia

  • The origin of Steeler's username is his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • When playing as characters other than Pokémon Trainer, Steeler is known to complain that it is unnatural that he doesn't transform into another character after losing a stock.
  • Steeler mains Pokémon Trainer due to Squirtle's inclusion as a playable character. Years before Pokémon Trainer was announced as a playable character, Steeler's number one wish for Smash Bros. roster inclusion was Squirtle.
  • Steeler once played competitive Pokémon on the Pokémon NetBattle battle simulator.
