Duck Hunt is a name used for the playable duo of the dog and a duck from the NES title, Duck Hunt.
Character Description
In Duck Hunt, the player owns a non-playable hunting dog, who will pick up any ducks that are shot down with the NES Zapper. At the beginning of each round in either Game A or B, the dog jumps into a grassy patch, waiting for ducks to be shot down. If the player fails to shoot down any ducks, the dog will perform an infamous laugh. It is possible for the player to shoot the dog in the arcade version of Duck Hunt, VS. Duck Hunt.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Duck Hunt is an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. It consists of the dog with a duck on his back who fight together. His special moves include gunmen from the NES title, Wild Gunman and cans from Hogan's Alley, both of which were also light gun games contemporary to Duck Hunt. His smash attacks are shots fired from the fourth wall by a "hunter".
Trivia
- Duck Hunt is the only newcomer in Super Smash Bros. 4 not to appear in any games featured on Nintendo's 7th and 8th generation consoles other than the Smash Bros. series (although the duck cameoed in Wii Play and the pair appeared in a microgame in WarioWare: Smooth Movies).
- Duck Hunt, Palutena and Wii Fit Trainer are the only playable characters in the Super Smash Bros. series that do not have a playable appearance in any other video game. In previous Smash installments, before the release of Hyrule Warriors, only Ganondorf and Sheik had this trait.
- In the case of Duck Hunt the above statement is only half true, as the duck was playable in game A of the original Duck Hunt.
