DJ Nintendo is an American/Dominican smasher main from the North East who currently resides in Bronx, NY. He is known for being proficient with most of the characters in Melee and is considered to be the best Bowser player in the world, along with having a solid Fox and Samus. He is also known for having some of the most consistent survival DI in the world. DJ Nintendo is currently ranked 4th on the Tristate Melee Power Rankings.

Information

DJ Nintendo is widely known as the "voice" of the East Coast Melee scene, a role similar to that of HomeMadeWaffles on the West Coast, as he helps with setting up tournaments and commentating on tournament livestreams. He is also a great mentor or "sensei", as he enjoys helping players improve their games with his accurate and helpful advice; some of his most notable "students", such as Jman and The Moon, have reached widespread notoriety in the Smash community under and beyond his coaching.

Phrases

He routinely speaks in Spanish with his commentators as he is of Dominican descent. Known for his various phrases, his two most popular are "Quit Life", which can be said in various situations, and his reference to drinks as substitution for a certain type of DI. A list of the "drinks" can be found below. Other phrases include: "More Coverage than Verizon" (for covering most or all of an opponents options), "Presshha!!" (which is an abstraction of the word pressure), "No DI" (for poor DI), "Knee of Love" (for a well spaced knee), "Washing Machine" (which refers to Peach's down smash), and "Papaya Smack" (which refers to Samus' forward smash). He is also known for adding the word "love" to many of his phrases. Additionally, he helped start the DI joke between the West Coast and East coast scene. The joke being how West Coast is more occupied with escaping combos and can get caught by a kill move with horrible survival DI, while the East Coast is more occupied with survival DI at all times, and this leads into longer and easier combos. Listed below are the "drinks" that he uses to refer to regional DI habits.

  • DJ's or OJ's for Orange Juice: Overall good DI (Which he would use to describe East Coast)
  • Milk (referring to Milk in bags): Decent DI (which he would use to describe Canada)
  • Water: Overall bad DI (which he would use to describe West Coast)

Trivia

  • DJ Nintendo's favorite video game is Super Mario RPG.
