Alphicans (Alfishins) is a Canadian smasher from Edmonton, Alberta who joined the competitive scene since the fall of 2007. At one point, he was ranked 25th on the CCSC Power Rankings. Alphicans is currently ranked 1st in Alberta for Melee and for Brawl. The name "Alphicans" is reference to his cat Alphie.

Luke losing to a lvl. 9 Metaknight: The Story of the Legend.
"Wait what? Luke lost to a lvl.9 Metaknight? Was this tourney? LOL SERIOUSLY? BWAHAHAHA." This was pretty much everyone's response why they heard about it, especially Koskinator who nearly died laughing. Anyways, a lot of people don't know the story behind this so here it is. Firstly, a few of us decided to enter a lvl. 9 MK for kicks, and it happened to be Luke's first match in brackets. While everyone was on their break before singles started, Luke decided to get a head start on his matches and played. With Jake, Tyler, Mark and myself all watching. Tyler filming it with his phone, we all started starting joking around, suggesting that if the cpu took Luke down to his last stock, that the match would count as a win for the cpu since we figured Luke would 3 stock it both times anyways. The cpu brought Luke down to 1 stock 2 out of the 3 times. To give Luke another chance and since there was time, we made it 3 out of 5. Luke lost 3-1. Luke abusing his tournament host powers made himself win even though everyone was against it." Source
Origin of Alfishins
The origin of the character "Alfishins" came from Genesis 2. Alphicans had a tournament set to be played against the Japanese player Rain. During the match Esam was commentating. Alphicans was trailing and had a stock deficit, at which point Esam commented "Alfishins fishing for that kill". That was the beginning of the term "Alfishins" and has been a running joke among Alberta players for years to come.
Rivalry with BC
Alphicans had always been a strong player for the Alberta scene since 2008. Due to the close proximity of British Columbia and Alberta, the two scenes often interacted. His longest rivalry being with the player Firefly who had also been a part of BC Brawl since early days. The first top player to beat would be Bundtcake eventually over coming him, next would be Clouderz, and then until Present Big D.
