Articles are a specific type of adjective in the English language. Except for some in certain situations, the three articles are a, an, and the. The is the definite article: it refers to a specific object or set of objects. A and an, however, are indefinite. These are the articles I discuss now. These two articles have nearly identical meaning. An is used when followed by a word with a vowel sound; a is used before a word with a consonant sound. In this article, we disagree over whether a or an should be used before low. I pronounce low starting with a consonant, and as such use a before it. How do you pronounce it to think an is proper here?
