List of SSB tier lists (NTSC)
The tier list of Super Smash Bros. is less well-known than its sequel counterparts, mainly due to there being a smaller competitive community for the game. The following is a list of the known tier lists.
For the purposes of low tier tournaments, those characters in tiers B, C and D are classed as "low tier" characters.
First tier list
The first list was created by the Super Smash Bros. community on GameFAQs, unlike the tier lists of other games, which were created on SmashBoards by the Smash Back Room.

In this tier list, Fox went from tier 4 to tier 2. Ness severely dropped from tier 3 to tier 8. Captain Falcon went up one tier. Mario went from tier 7 to tier 5. Now Samus is at the bottom because of her lack of mobility and abyssmal recovery move. DK went from tier 9 to 7. Yoshi went up from 8 to 6. Jigglypuff dropped 3 tiers. Link is now in tier 11.
Third tier list
The third and current SSB tier list was created by the Smash Back Room.

In this tier list, Kirby went from tier 3 to tier 2, making Fox drop one tier. Link and Luigi are now tied. Ness dropped one tier making Jigglypuff tier 8. Pikachu stays top tier.
