SmashArena.png

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

Round 131: Link vs. Ganondorf

Winner!!

Ganondorf SSBB.jpg
It's about dang time the unbreakable spirit and the King of Evil got together for a tussle in the Smash Arena. Will raw power or unfettered courage take this one?

Votes for Link

  1. Easier to draw. AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 09:52, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. Link is my favorite character in all of the SSB games. Nuff said. ZeldasmashFile:ZeldaSymbol.pngTalk 10:58, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. 204.191.139.195 12:02, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  4. Can't play Ganondorf because the game freezes when I challenge him, so I can't vote for him. Nontheless, i still like playing Link.KirbyHeadSSBM.pngKing KirbyD (talk) 12:18, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  5. My first main and first character in all the Smash series. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 12:43, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  6. Link always wins against Ganondorf in any The Legend of Zelda game. ..... The Autistic NintenNESsprite.png 13:25, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  7. In SSBB Link is easier to control than Ganondorf and also I don't like evil.User talk:Smashtito 14:10, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  8. Better on Tiers, kick ass in every zelda game. Main Character in the zelda series. Was before Ganondorf in the series? Link has superiority to Ganondorf. LightningBlue: Music is Power 15:41, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  9. Good will always triumph over evil.Yoshirocks341 YoshiHeadSSBB.png 17:30, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  10. Let's put it simply. The first games I remember getting are Pokemon Firered and TWILIGHT PRINCESS. You know, the game where Ganondorf looks worse than in Ocarina of Time (which I have nothing against, it's just, TP Ganondorf still scares me) Link, on the other hand, is pure amazing. I know how this got up here, but really, it's just no contest. Not exactly simply in the end, but, eh, I did it to make my point.174.20.228.189 22:50, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  11. I like playing as Ganondorf, but I still prefer Link. 110.174.90.69 22:58, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  12. Even if Link is subpar in Brawl. Ganondorf is worse. (Oh, and Link kicks ass. NUFF SAID) 75.163.139.108 02:23, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

Votes for Ganondorf

  1. Ganondorf doesn't like the internet. Too many Links. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 13:11, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. Toast, stop with the crappy puns! :P Also, I prefer Ganondorf to Link any day. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 16:22, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. Link sucks, nuff said Mich5643 (talk) 17:28, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  4. Link was only ever any good in Melee. He just stank in 64, and in Brawl he had to deal with Toon Link. And I never even played as Young Link... 24.168.93.12 19:53, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  5. Ganondorf has the thunder stomp, and was actually competitively viable in a Smash game. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:16, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
  6. "Interesting. Want to hear my counterargument?...I'm going to violently ram my elbow into your face."-Ganondorf, Melee's End 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 00:59, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

Did anyone get my suggestion for this fight? ..... The Autistic NintenNESsprite.png 13:25, 24 March 2012 (EDT)

Toast has failed yet again to produce a good pun. LightningBlue: Music is Power 15:43, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
Icicle Mountain was supposed to be pitiful, but I see nothing wrong with Ganondorf's. In fact, this is on now. If that pun was "bad", I'd bloody love to hear a better one from you. I await your response >:) Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 18:52, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
Okay then. "Link doesn't play World of Warcraft, too many (ganon)dwarfs." --Fireemblemlogo.pngFan275 12:04, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

Round 130: Lottery vs. Coin Launcher

Lottery (SSBM).jpg
Winner!!
Coin Launcher

The two trophy-collection methods go head-to-head. Is calm randomness or active shooting the better one?

Votes for Lottery

  1. "Got it!" I'm a Melee guy, + it's easier to get a trophy w/lottery. Insert coins, please. MeleeMarth01MM01Sig.png 18:34, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. >Sees a large barrage of missiles< Aww, what's the point. >quits< Yeah, coins were harder to get in Melee, but when you did get them, it's nice to sit back and receive the benefits. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 18:49, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. Don't have to play a shooter minigame to get a trophy, you just put in some coins and you get a trophy. 204.191.132.187 20:10, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  4. The Lottery is way better; you have a much higher chance of getting a trophy that you don't have. The Coin Shooter, on the other hand; you are likely to waste all your coins before you finally see a trophy/sticker that you don't have. RickTommy (talk) 23:35, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  5. 24.123.73.90 23:50, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  6. I would have chosen the coin launcher, if not for the fact it doesn't have any new trophy/sticker guarantee, while the lottery does. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 04:08, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  7. I do like coin laucher but it gets too stressful and anoying, especially with the invincible barriers. As Omega Tryant said, the lottery guarantees a new trophy (for the most part). LightningBlue: Music is Power 13:06, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  8. Don't feel like playing a minigame for the collectables. 199.185.67.18 11:05, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
  9. I guess I like to vote for the underdog. But in all honesty, I like this one better. 140.182.165.8 11:02, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
  10. Ill vote for this one becuase there is no holes where youre coins are dropped into and are wasted.--Arcwarioman (talk) 15:53, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Votes for Coin Launcher

  1. I'm a sucker for shmup games of any type. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 18:57, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. I'm kind of neutral, but I'll vote this one because it's more engaging. 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 19:20, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. OMG gunna randomly shoot flying ayroplayns! and get cool trofees!99.235.62.184 19:25, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  4. "coin launchers is fun especially wend you have a lot of coins to spent. but coin slot can only spent 20 coin which is bad if a lot of coins."Smash X 5432 (talk) 20:16, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  5. You could get both trophies and stickers from this, and it was kind of fun so I vote this. 110.174.90.69 20:51, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  6. An easier way to get Trophies and stickers. ..... The Hydralisk NintenNESsprite.png 20:53, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  7. I gotta come up with more original reasons for voting the way I do. The old "I played Brawl, not Melee" standby is starting to get stale. 68.174.13.31 20:59, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  8. Lottery is boring. 75.163.139.108 23:15, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
  9. Coin Launcher is harder, but lasts longer. It was way too easy to get all the lottery trophies in Melee. --Fireemblemlogo.pngFan275 00:11, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  10. I've spent much more time on Coin Launcher in 1 day than I did in years on Lottery. Smash Master 00:16, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  11. Coin Launcher is an actual game. AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 09:17, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  12. I'm voting for the fun little minigame. That and I never played Melee. (I do hope to someday, though.)174.20.246.52 09:38, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  13. ..though pretty random, it has a certain amount of strategy to it.. plus I like being able to choose whether I want stickers or trophies.71.48.127.61 20:42, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
  14. Better way for me to waste my over 9000 coins on. Even if you don't have a 100% chance of getting new trophies and stuff, you still can, and it's a more fun way of doing so.Vincent Transcendant Kirby-1.png 16:34, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
  15. This is more fun than the lottery, especially if I have 9999 coins. Floor2000x (talk) 19:06, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
  16. Much more interactive/engaging than the Lottery, and a good way to use up Coins accumulated from other game modes. It's also a great way to use up time (moreso than the Lottery, which was OK in its own right). The downside is that it can sometimes be difficult to acquire new Trophies and Stickers as collectibles... 72.3.33.16 13:40, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
  17. I don't know how good the slots are, for I don't have melee, but I know that the coin launcher is awesome. MILK! (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2012 (EDT) 3:15PM central america, March 23, 2012

Half votes

  1. I've never played Melee that much, so I never experienced Lottery, so there would be no choice in choosing. Also, it makes getting collectibles less aggravating.King KirbyD (talk) 20:58, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
