Forum:Smash Arena
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.
The Rules
- When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
- You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
- Put a
#
before your vote to facilitate the vote counting. - Type
~~~~
after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time. - There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
- Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
- You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
- You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
- Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
- While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing
|}
). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed. - If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
- Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
- Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
- Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.
If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.
Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.
CommentsUh, why can't I vote for Great Fox? BlindColours 19:49, 10 February 2012 (EST)
My fight (see vote #3) happened like this: A Level 1 blue Zelda was against me, a Fox. At the start of the fight, I used Illusion off the side of the stage, thinking that I'd spawn on the other side. About ten seconds later, I won; I knocked Zelda off the side of the main platform a second before it went up into the air. Good times... MeleeMarth01 (talk) 20:09, 10 February 2012 (EST) |
This stage is one of my favorites. Because that were master hand fight in classic mode. | |||
CommentsSSB64's Final Destination fits with a mind of Mayan theme, being less "sci-fi" in appearance and looking more like some ancient technology being brought back. This is similar to the Bryonian war mechs in Metroid Prime 3. Melee's final destination, as I described in my vote, is the most "sci-fi" appearance, with it's strange markings that speak out to the idea of an alien landing platform. On the other hand, Brawl seems to have a mix of the two, and it's difficult to tell whether Brawl's FD is made out of rock or metal. Brawl's FD appears to float using a crystal placed underneath, similar to its Battlefield, indicating a kind of ancient technology similar to SSB64. This is furthered by the fact that Brawl features a race of beings living in another floating island who are actually called "ancients". How does Master Hand tie into this? In SSB64, where Master Hand is a child, Final Destination seems to most alien of all stages. All other stages appear to just be sets that are constructed by him, as seen by the intro. FD is outright in space, however. The seemingly ancient appearance of the platform is also puzzling, as Master Hand lives in a modern world. In Melee, Master Hand's apparent powers have been greatly expanded, as he has now created an entire world. Nonetheless, FD still has an air of mystery surrounding it. If it is a landing platform, who is it for? Master Hand and Crazy Hand certainly don't need one. Brawl's FD is then the only one whose origin is accounted for, as it appears to be built by the Ancients. Master Hand therefore does not need to justify his use of it as a battle stage. So there you have it. Just some observations I've made about each Final Destination and its role in its game. Mr. Anontalk 23:46, 10 February 2012 (EST) |
CommentsLucas, are you referring to its item drops? Mr. Anontalk 11:36, 4 February 2012 (EST)
I think he is being either ironic or true. LightningBlue: Electric! 02:43, 5 February 2012 (EST) Another great choice. These two are very annoying enemies in the Smash Bros. Series (both from separate games). LightningBlue: Electric! 02:43, 5 February 2012 (EST) Well, first vote for ReDead contains a bad word (f word)... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.236.90.177 (talk • contribs) 14:04, 6 February 2012
I am disappointed in the lack of The Legend of Zelda references. LightningBlue: Electric! 21:39, 6 February 2012 (EST) James don't mislead people by changing the name of the article link. SmashWiki is not censored. LightningBlue: Electric! 21:39, 6 February 2012 (EST)
Ok ok. Fine. LightningBlue: Electric! 13:30, 7 February 2012 (EST) Admittedly, I thought that Re-Dead Vote #8 was quite the amusing comparison. Surprisingly, I'm just now learning about the possibility of Bucculus sometimes dropping HP-restoring food, although that's probably because I don't let Bucculus stick around long enough for its poison sac to fill anyway, due to Bucculus being the embodiment of sheer annoyance. Also, the number of Google Search hits for the term "Bucculus" are a bit surprising...but it looks like that's due to there possibly being another meaning for "bucculus"... 72.3.33.7 20:16, 8 February 2012 (EST) Um, do any of us think this should be over by now?--Arcwarioman (talk) 10:11, 9 February 2012 (EST)
@Vote 20 on Re-Dead: Um, they don't kiss you, but they look like they're trying to mouth-rape anything they see.Drakon64 17:55, 9 February 2012 (EST) Drakon they are just grabbing you. They may have actually raped eveything they see in Ocarina of Time (or absorbed you). If youyou have played they game it really looks like that.LightningBlue: Electric! 18:45, 9 February 2012 (EST) |
