Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

Round 119: Meta Knight vs. Ike

Winner!!

They share golden swords, but that's about it - one relies on lightning-fast precision strikes, while the other is more of a slow-swinging powerhouse. Which end of the spectrum will overcome the other?

You asked for it, and we deliver! It's a fight between one of the game's most powerful weapons and the stuffed dummy that enjoys taking one (or more) for the team! Will the hyper-offensive bat or the indestructable surprise mascot come out on top?

Votes for Home-Run Bat

  1. Stupidly overpowered weapon in Melee was stupidly fun to use. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 23:59, 23 December 2011 (EST)
  2. C'mon, guys? Why are you voting for a bag of sand over an item that causes an OHKO? DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 00:38, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  3. Seeing his loved ones die around him and being unable to join them, the fact that Sandbag cannot die has turned him into a great emotional wreck, to the point where he enjoys being smacked aroundin hopes that one day, it will cause it all to finally end. Home-run bat is working toward a great cause. --174.59.4.202 09:00, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  4. Ever had a high items match, with only home run bates on? It gets chaotic pretty quickly, and it's so much fun! Yoshirocks341 YoshiHeadSSBB.png 09:54, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  5. It does damage, while a Sandbag does not. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:14, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  6. Home-Run Bat, 'Tis Fun That, One swing, Brawl, you've won that, But Sandbag, That be a Grand Bag. It takes lots of bruisings, But this side is losing, So I choose simply to shun that. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 14:15, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  7. BlindColours Boing.png 14:36, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  8. Strike 1...Strike 2...and that Sandbag is outta here! 98.242.120.155 14:56, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  9. Bats Are awesome. I do feel sorry for the sandbag but he is kinda sucky. 94.11.97.204 16:30, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  10. Home Run Bat hits the sandbag, not the other way. Mastersword (talk) 03:52, 26 December 2011 (EST)
  11. Home run bat all the way 'cause one, extreamly high launch if used in a smash attack an two, also overpowered if thrown at the target. Metoxchu! (talk) 08:52, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Votes for Sandbag

  1. Sandbags pwn! =D 204.191.129.218 23:15, 23 December 2011 (EST)
  2. Home-run Bat may be the best item, but Sandbag is too awesome of a character. I love the Sandbag. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 23:16, 23 December 2011 (EST)
  3. Sandbag is the cheapest character because he does not die. The blast line fails to recognize his death, and does not unleash a light column. He is capable of living forever and stalling with his invisibile damage percentage. MegaTron1XD:p 23:42, 23 December 2011 (EST)
  4. In Melee the Home Run Bat can be destroyed, but Sandbag cannot. In other words, if the HRB and Sandbag keep colliding, the HRB will eventually be destroyed while the Sandbag will merely feel ticklish. This is proof that Sandbag is stronger than the HRB. Mr. AnonMatchupUnknown.pngtalk 00:12, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  5. Use Critical Hit to it, it will not die :o Lucas-IV- CREEP MCLucas.png 00:16, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  6. Home Run Bat=Too Slow. The Sandbag usually releases a Smash Ball (Yes!) along with many other items. LightningBlue: Electric! 01:08, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  7. Sandbag is unkillable, it even enjoys being hit by the Home-run Bat. 110.174.90.69 06:36, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  8. He might not pack a punch, but he sure knows how to take one. MeleeMarth01Merry Christmas! MarthHeadSSBM.png 12:24, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  9. Why not? Its stare is oddly hypnotic.Drakon64 CharizardHeadSSBB.png
  10. The HRB is not completely the ultimate weapon, as DK can DI out of a Home Run swing via Spinning Kong. And I feel sorry for the sandbag too. ..... towmmarow is Chrismas MarioHeadSSBB.png 14:30, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  11. It endlessly spawns useful items. What could be more useful than the useful item that spawns useful things that are very useful?(I dare you to use the word useful more times in a sentence)174.20.253.145 19:44, 24 December 2011 (EST)
  12. they are invincible and give food Floor2000x (talk) 21:11, 26 December 2011 (EST)

  14. In the Home-Run Contest, the Home-Run bat abuses the Sandbag. You have to feel sorry for the Sandbag.PKWaddleDee (talk) 21:24, 29 December 2011 (EST)PKWaddleDee

Basically both items are useful, but the charge for the Home-Run Bat takes way too long. The voters for the Home-Run Bat do have a point, but based on their effectiveness, the Sandbag is superior. LightningBlue: Electric! 01:11, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Read rule #12. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 01:21, 24 December 2011 (EST)

Odd how they don't mention the Home-Run Contest in the description. Isn't that a little Importent ?Drakon64 CharizardHeadSSBB.png

Can someone fix my vote? I tried to, but it didn't work. BlindColours Boing.png 14:40, 24 December 2011 (EST)
Its already fixed. ..... towmmarow is Chrismas MarioHeadSSBB.png 14:43, 24 December 2011 (EST)

I love all these item fights, especially when they're both Smash Bros. series original items, like this one. MeleeMarth01Merry Christmas! MarthHeadSSBM.png 16:36, 24 December 2011 (EST)
