Monolith Soft is a Japanese company that has created games for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. They were founded on 1st October 1999. They used to be a subsidiary of Namco Bandai Holdings. They are best known for creating games for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, but no longer create games for Nintendo rival consoles as they were acquired by Nintendo in 2007. Their only Super Smash Bros. game so far is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. They have announced to open a new studio in Kyoto in Japan.
