The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters.
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Yoshi Bomb (aka "Hip Drop" or "Ground Pound") is Yoshi's down special move. He smashes straight downward into the ground when used, and releases a star on either side, stunning enemies. If used on the ground, Yoshi will jump forward before dropping down. This move can be canceled by grabbing the ledge while dropping.

This move deals 12% damage in SSB.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Yoshi Bomb has been weakened. However, it can hit enemies twice if used on the ground.

This move is functionally similar to Bowser's Bowser Bomb, hence the name.

Origin

The move has become a somewhat standard move in Mario games, originating in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island where Yoshi could use it to pound down stakes, crush crates, and slam through soft dirt. It is unknown why the move is called "Yoshi Bomb" in the Smash Bros. series despite never being known as such in any other game.

The stars are derived that after he performs the attack, he creates a small starry effect.

Trivia

  • This is Yoshi's only special move (excluding his final smash) that does not begin with "Egg-".
