Pikmin & Olimar (disambiguation)

Pikmin & Olimar (ピクミン＆オリマー, Pikumin & Orimaa) are characters from the Pikmin series. Led by Captain Olimar and comprised of swarms of creatures called Pikmin, the group called Pikmin & Olimar is a playable character entity in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Character Description

Captain Olimar's first appereance was in the Nintendo GameCube game, Pikmin, where he is the main and only playable character. His first adventure tells that his ship, the Dolphin, crashed on a planet (presumably Earth), and he is aided by the Pikmin, a plant-like alien race that resides there. He is joined by Louie in the second game, Pikmin 2. In the game he is identified as the top employee of Hocotate Freight Company. He has a wife and children, and communicates with them whenever he can.

Olimar is heavily based on Mario, as they have similar noses, and when compared next to Louie, he is shorter and bulker while Louie is lankier and more slim, referencing Mario and Luigi respectively. Also, Olimar's Japanese name, Orima, is derived from Mario, as Louie is derived from Luigi.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

A trophy of Pikmin and Olimar can be obtained in Melee by having a Pikmin game save on your memory card when Melee is turned on.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Pikmin & Olimar appear as an Ice Climbers-like team serving as a single playable fighter.
