Sweden is a Smash region that encompasses the country of the same name. It is one of the countries that makes up the Nordic region, which also includes Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Norway. As such, the regions' respective scenes often cross over in tournaments.

Historically, the scene was known for being one of the major powerhouses in Melee and the strongest Melee region in Europe. This is attributed to the region being the home of Armada and Leffen, two of the greatest Melee players of all-time. In addition, the region was also the home to many of the largest Melee series in Europe, including the B.E.A.S.T series and the DreamHack Summer and Winter series, both of which have seen many international attendees from around the world. All these factors helped Sweden foster a strong playerbase for most of Melee, and several of the country's best players have since been ranked globally, though none as high as Armada and Leffen.

However, the Swedish scene features noticeably smaller scenes in other Smash games, and as non-Melee Swedish players rarely travel outside their region, it leads to very few of them ranking in Europe. Alongside Armada's retirement, Leffen's focus towards other FGC games, and the distance from Sweden to many other large European regions, many regions have since overtaken Sweden in national representation. For example, Sweden went from having 11 representatives on the 2019 European Melee Power Rankings to only 4 on the 2023 rankings. Nevertheless, Sweden remains one of the strongest regions in the Nordic region and features several strong players and hidden bosses such as Pipsqueak in Melee and big chungus in Ultimate.
