Everything you see on this page is based on information I was able to verify and may not be 100% accurate.

While I have tried to include as many IPs with Nintendo-published installments as possible to this project, I didn't want it to feel too semantic, so I decided to make a list of unrepresented universes that don't qualify for the main page. Consider these universes "honorable mentions", if you will.

As a side note, any of the universes with entries here (except for the ones under "Based on non-gaming media" and "Applications/hardware") are allowed to be put on this project.

Based on non-gaming media[edit]

Exceptions:

  • Celebrity-based games - As per the Dr. Kawashima clause; must be an original concept and/or must not be directly based on one of their works.
  • Non-gaming media owned by Nintendo - As per the Duck Hunt clause; only gets an entry if it has a game adaptation (e.g. Nester's Funky Bowling).

Published by third-party in Japan[edit]

Note:

  • Games published by Nintendo in Japan, but a third-party in Western regions - The reason I decided not to include these games here stems from the ordering of the Rayman Legends and Shovel Knight spirits in Ultimate, which are grouped with the first-party series instead of the third-party ones, likely due to Nintendo publishing those games in Japan.

Others[edit]

The following entries don't really fit under any of the above sections, so I have decided to dump them all here. Also includes categories that I didn't feel like making into a proper list. Exclusion reasons are explained in parentheses.

  • Nintendo toys and other non-gaming products (not actual video games, some products have missing information, and personally speaking, it would be better to handle these the same way as the "Nintendo hardware" section on List of minor Nintendo universes instead of listing every single non-gaming product individually; Ultra Hand is an exception due to having its own game, Grill-Off with Ultra Hand!)
e.g. Hanafuda, playing cards, Ultra Machine, N&B Blocks, Love Tester, Unmei Game, Ultra Scope, Kōsenjū Custom, Lefty RX, Ele-Conga, Chiritorie, Ten Billion
  • Arcade games not listed on the main page (missing information for some of them and debatable if they can really be counted as proper video games)
e.g. Laser Clay Shooting Game, EVR Race
  • PlayChoice-10 games (unchanged ports of older NES titles; never saw a release in Japan)
e.g. Contra, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden
  • Nintendo World Championships 1990 (Compilation of older NES titles; every universe on the cart is already represented in Smash in some form)
  • Nintendo Campus Challenge 1991 (Compilation of older NES titles; every universe on the cart is already represented in Smash in some form)
  • Nintendo Super System games (unchanged ports of older Super NES titles; never saw a release in Japan)
    e.g. ActRaiser, Contra
  • Nintendo Campus Challenge 1992 (Compilation of older Super NES titles; every universe on the cart is already represented in Smash in some form)
  • Nintendo PowerFest '94 (Compilation of older Super NES titles; every universe on the cart is already represented in Smash in some form)
  • Satellaview-exclusive games (too little information for many of these; some of them are even outright lost media)
    e.g. Special Tee Shot
  • Air Hockey-e (this 2002 Game Boy Advance game is only available by scanning its respective e-Reader card, and that information alone makes me hesitant to list it on the main page)
  • Legend of Golf (this 2004 GameCube game is a unique case in that Nintendo is mentioned in the copyright info and has their logo on the front cover, but the publisher is actually Seta Corporation*, so it's difficult to determine if this is truly a Nintendo IP. It's possible they may have distributed it, but just to play it safe, I will not be listing it on the main page)
    *Source
  • Nintendo Game Seminar games (not only is there too little information for many of these games, most of them were exclusive to DS Download Stations and, according to NintendoWiki, some of them were supposedly never released to the public. While some games in this series did see a release on the Wii U eShop, I feel it's for the best to exclude this series altogether)
e.g. Nekosogi Tornado, Kuru Kuru Tonzuran, Kaosapiens, Ototo, FloWooooT, Kanarasu To: Center Heroes, Doki Doki Tegami Relay
  • Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo (not an actual video game)
  • NES Classic Edition games (compilation of older NES titles instead of independant re-releases)
    e.g. Bubble Bobble, Contra, Gradius
  • Super NES Classic Edition games (compilation of older Super NES titles instead of independant re-releases)
e.g. Contra... that's it, actually. Every other universe on the console is already represented in Smash in some form
  • Games published by Nintendo in certain Western regions* (too little information or too much conflicting information)
*Only accounts for games that were released in other Western regions, but were not published by Nintendo there (e.g. games published by a third-party in North America, but by Nintendo in PAL regions)
  • Games distributed, but not published by Nintendo* (too little information or too much conflicting information for a lot of them; as they were not directly published by Nintendo, it doesn't make sense to make full-fledged entries for them)
*Games that have the label "Distributed exclusively by Nintendo" are exceptions, but only if it applies to all regions the game was released in.
  • Third-party games developed by Nintendo divisions/subsidiaries (not actual Nintendo IPs due to being published and owned by third-party companies)
e.g. Livly Garden, Project X Zone, Tube Slider
  • Tech demo-exclusive games (these games were generally created to showcase the capabilities of a console or hardware and were never intended to have a wider release)
    e.g. 3D Challenge
  • Unreleased/cancelled games (as these games were never officially released, there isn't a point in making entries for them)
    e.g. CatRoots
