zerothetheif is a mostly retired smasher originally from Brazil but now residing in South Florida. He has been playing smash since the original Super Smash Bros., and started playing competitively in mid-2005. While a decent competitor, the smashers of South Florida know him more as a tournament organizer/host and commentator. As of late 2017, he has moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was formerly ranked 14th on the South Florida Project M Power Rankings.

Tournament history[edit]

Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

zerothetheif was formerly a Sheik main, until 2006 after watching MLG New York videos, where he was inspired by Wife and his cutthroat victories to pick up Peach.

After leaving the scene in 2008 shortly after the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he came back in October 2013 thanks to the resurgence of the scene through EVO 2013 and the documentary The Smash Brothers. Since then he has grown as a player thanks to the encouragement of his fellow South Florida players such as Blea Gelo, Rula, and Spider Sense.

Throughout 2014 he could often be found in doubles teaming with Rula, where despite not being as skilled as certain opponents, their chemistry has given them victories over teams such as Trikrome and Marsfool!. And having a very close set against ChuDat and Chillindude829 at EVO 2014. He also defeated NorCal's Darrell in a best of 5 money match while he attended EVO 2014.

As much as he enjoys competing he has taken a liking to commentating and TOing. He's had the opportunity to help the Gaming Knights of UCF to run pools at CEO Winterfest and CEO 2014 Prologue, as well as commentated a couple matches at the aforementioned events. And had the chance to help run brackets and judge at EVO 2014. Also he's been able to host and run many tournaments during spring and summer of 2014 through Versus Gaming Center. Most recently he got to do a decent amount of commentating at The Big House 4 with Melee Milwaukee and Tourney Locator.

Since attending EVO 2014 many of the players around him in South Florida saw a decent improvement in his competitive play. He soon found himself playing real well at The Big House 4 not only getting out of his initial pool for Melee singles but, he was even the only player in his pool to take Kels to game three.

He has gone onto a mostly retired state since April 2015, occasionally showing up at locals to hangout and see the smashers he has befriended.

Project M[edit]

While initially zerothetheif wasn't very interested in Project M's competitive scene, this all changed when he started to pickup Zelda randomly during a smashfest. Since then he has played surprisingly well in Project M tournaments, going for a trap based Zelda. He does still play Peach on occasion and has a pocket MetaKnight to help deal with match-ups he's not a fan of (ex. Charizard).

Recently at Paragon Orlando 2015 he did really well in Project M. Not dropping a single game in his pools except to Plup, landing himself 2nd seed and getting into main bracket leading himself to a 25th place placing in the 136 man tournament. He also shocked many players at his impressive Project M Zelda play since many believed she wasn't as viable of a character since the 3.5 release of the game.

He attended Aftershock in Texas and though he underperformed in the tournament he was able to take one of SocCal's top PM players, Aero, to game 3 last hit last stock during pools and defeated both Mr. Brandandorf and Milkman in money matches.

Before retiring from Smash in April 2015 he was able to make it onto the South Florida Spring Power Rankings for Project M.
