Spare Change is the 5th event match of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
The player controls Ness, who must win an 80 second Coin Battle against a CPU Captain Falcon on the Onett stage. The CPU Captain Falcon's artificial intelligence is set at Level 5.
When the match starts, Ness will spawn on the lower red roof platform left of the center of the stage, while Captain Falcon spawns on the blue rooftop platform right of the center. The players have 1 minute and 20 seconds to collect 200 coins. Similar to the standard Coin Battles, both players have infinite stocks and lose half of their coins if they are KO'd.

Trivia[edit]
- This is one of only four event matches in Melee where the player has infinite stocks, the others including Event 13: Yoshi's Egg, Event 31: Mario Bros. Madness, and Event 32: Target Acquired.
