The music of Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a rather hyped aspect of the game among video games in general, featuring remixes, medleys, and preservations of famous videogame music from across the Nintendo empire. The full list of credited musicians for the game is posted here at Super Smash Bros. Dojo!!, and it numbers at 36 individuals as one of the biggest musical gatherings in gaming history, according to Masahiro Sakurai. Curiously, Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu is not among the list, even though he was credited for composing the official theme song for the game detailed below. Sakurai has stated that his group of arrangement supervisors were asked to listen to "an elite selection of Nintendo music" and arrange several of their favorite songs, which "means there will be quite a number of songs.

From time to time, Dojo!! will post a piece of music from the game as one of its updates to the site.

Main theme song

The main theme song was revealed along with the game itself at the game's first trailer in E3 2006. In this initial appearance it is a thundering orchestra with vocals sung in Latin. It was composed by famed Final Fantasy series composer Nobuo Uematsu.

A synthesized remix of the track without vocals was heard in the game's second trailer at Nintendo World 2006. Some believe this version may be menu screen music for the game. In the 15-second mini-trailer posted on Dojo on July 12th, 2007, a short remix of the main theme is also played.

Dojo!! music updates

From time to time, Dojo!! will post a piece of music from the game as one of its updates to the site, allowing viewers to get veritable audio previews for the game.

  • The Musicians: Along with revealing the game's musician list, this update to Dojo!! reveals a revised version of Super Smash Bros. Melee's Menu 1 theme, which is stated to be used as the music for the Battlefield (SSBB) stage.
  • Yoshi's Story: Ending: This is a remix of an ending sequence in the Nintendo 64 game Yoshi's Story, and the music will be featured in the game, probably as the music for the Yoshi's Island stage in Brawl.
  • Metroid: Boss Battle Music (Ridley Fight): This is a short but intense remix of the most common boss battle theme heard throughout the Metroid series. The site specifically connects this to Ridley, raising rumors as to whether Ridley will be a playable character, or more of a "background character" like Kraid was in Melee.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time Medley: This is a medley of various songs heard in Ocarina of Time, and the ones heard in the incomplete clip provided are, in order, the "Song of Storms", "Epona's Song", "Song of Time", "Saria's Song", and "Zelda's Lullaby", all of which Link can play on the eponymous Orcarina in the N64 game. While it is expected to play on a Zelda-themed stage, said stage is currently unknown.
  • Star Fox: Space Armada: This is a remix of, what Sakurai claims, to be part of the music from the Corneria stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Sakurai notes the intensity of the music, as it conveys the atmosphere of an epic showdown.
  • Kid Icarus: The Underworld: An orchestrated medley of the first stage theme from the original Kid Icarus, ending with the high-pitched theme heard when Pit is spotted by a Grim Reaper enemy.

Misc.

  • At the end of the first trailer, when Snake is revealed, the Metal Gear Solid Game Over jingle is played. It is unknown if this is used in the game.
  • The Japanese section of the old Dojo!! site clamed that Meta Knight's theme would be a rock version of Kirby's.
