These values define the hurtbox radius of each character's shield. The effective shield radius is around 0.4 to 0.5 smaller than these listed amounts for a full shield (confirmed at least for Smash 4 and Ultimate), and decreases to a minimum of 0.15× at the shield's smallest size, following a formula of (HP / 50) * 0.85 + 0.15 for the size multiplier.

Notes

• All listed amounts are for the latest version of each game (NTSC for Smash 64 and Melee).
• Each character has a unique scale multiplier, which is 1× by default, but can be different to change the overall size of their model and hitboxes, therefore affecting shield size as well. For example, Bowser in Smash 4 and Ultimate has a scale multiplier of 0.82× (which does not mean he's smaller relative to other characters, but his base model is larger than in-game). The shield sizes listed for all games take scale multipliers into account.
• Smash 64 measures distance units differently from the other games, by a ratio of roughly 30×. For comparison purposes, both the raw value and an approximation to later games' units are provided for each character's shield size.
• In Melee, the shield size multiplier is determined by (HP * a / 60) * 0.85 + 0.15, where a is equal to 1 - (0.5 * (s - 0.3) / 0.7) based on the shield's density, with s being 1 for a fully dense shield (0.5× size) and 0.30714 for the lightest shield (0.995× size). Both amounts are listed for each character (for Yoshi, both use a 1× multiplier).
