Spout Flames?[edit]

I think that the statement that says Stafy spouts flames should be removed as it is mario's side smash attack.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Peach rules (talkcontribs)

Merge[edit]

I disagree with this one. Stafy is an assist trophy, and they deserve their own pages. I will admit, however, that the article does need more of an emphasis on Stafy as an assist trophy. Cheezperson {talk}stuff 05:29, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I Took Care Of That, Don't You Worry :D KP317 (talk) 05:33, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I thought there needed to be more of a discussion before the tag was taken off. Cheezperson {talk}stuff 05:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Not if the person who posted the tag didn't post a reason why on the talk page. KP317 (talk) 05:40, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, she did post a reason on the actual merge tag, but not here. Strange. Cheezperson {talk}stuff 05:43, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

He's called "Starfy"[edit]

If you don't believe me, read this. I suggest moving the page to "Starfy" on which it is explained that there was a typo when translating Brawl. Then go on to use the name "Starfy" not "Stafy" in the article. It was misspelled in Brawl, that doesn't mean it should be misspelled here. PenguinofDeath 09:14, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the English translation is ambiguous. Ever play M&L:SS? There's a cameo poster for "The Legend of Stafy", with this character. So I'm pretty sure both spellings are accepted. The Wikipedia article acknowledges this. Miles (talk) 12:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
The Wikipedia article acknowledges the fact that in two games his name has been misspelled. The Legend of Starfy (Densetsu no Starfy Taiketsu! Daiiru Kaizokudan - I think the next SSB game should be Super Smash Bros. Confrontation), which is due to be released in North America in four days time, is spelled with an "r". I would go by what he's called in a game from his own series over what he's called in a game that he's a guest in. I'm not exactly saying that people will die of confusion if we don't change it, just that "Starfy" would be technically correct, which, as we all know, is the best kind of correct. PenguinofDeath 13:37, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

yo, PoD! I'd like to point out the games called the legendary starfy, not what you called it. double error. HYLIAN FURY (talk) 01:13, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Densetsu no Starfy was the first game of the The Legendary Starfy series, the fifth game of which was called The Legendary Starfy. The game that we were talking about was not The Legendary Starfy, it was Densetsu no Starfy, but I translated the title for people who don't speak Japanese. The series name (and the name of the fifth game of the series) were loosely translated - Densetsu no Starfy means The Legend of Starfy, not The Legendary Starfy, because Densetsu means "Legend"/"Adventure", not "Legendary". And please don't say "yo, PoD!... double error", it sounds offensive. PenguinofDeath 16:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

But you are all wrong, well not all of you, the people at TOSE said that "Starfy" was not necessarily the official translation, everything shouldn't be judged of want the people who translation Smash Bros. say. And I do know about the game translation. 98.88.51.224 16:21, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

But in all of the other games that he's appeared in he's been called Starfy... Outside of Brawl he's only ever once been referred to as Stafy, and that's on a poster in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. He's called Starfy far more often than he's called Stafy. PenguinofDeath 16:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Bump. Unless anyone has any strong and logical objections, I will move the Stafy article to "Starfy" at some point in the next few days. PenguinofDeath 16:59, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

I've finally done it, four months later than promised, which is far more than enough time for anyone to voice a logical objection so don't start complaining if you think that we should actually deliberately spell a name wrong call the article "Stafy". Kthx, PenguinofDeath 20:09, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

Not that it matters to the original point (especially after all this time, but this bugs me and I have to get it off my chest), but Densetsu no Starfy does not mean The Legend of Starfy. Yes, 'densetsu' means 'legend', but the ordering of the words is key here. 'No' more or less works similarly to English's 'apostrophe-s' in making a possessive. So for a comparison: Zelda no Densetsu would be either Zelda's Legend or Legend of Zelda; while Densetsu no Starfy would be either Legend's Starfy or Starfy of Legend, which is synonymous with Legendary Starfy. Again, I know it's not relevant to this point, but it could at least prevent any attempts to misname the series elsewhere on the wiki. 96.51.112.221 16:22, 17 December 2014 (EST)

Stafy is not a starfish.[edit]

I just wanted to say this before someone said he was, thanks to the horrible English commercials, his creator stated he is neither a star nor a starish.98.88.51.224 16:24, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

/dead horse[edit]

Look. He's named Stafy in Brawl. That his name was relocalized after Brawl makes no difference. Can this be moved back to Stafy please. Miles (talk) 20:53, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

NO. You had your chance to voice any sort of logical objection, and you missed it, tbh. PenguinofDeath 21:17, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Wikis are not closed and not finalized. Miles (talk) 02:11, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
You had four months to say something. Everyone did. No one said anything. On the other hand, I provided a cogent argument for why it should be moved, which no one could actually find anything wrong with. Either that or they just couldn't be bothered to voice their opinion, and apathy is not an excuse. Provide a logical counter-argument that proves that my points are in fact illogical and invalid, and yeah, it'll get moved back. PenguinofDeath 11:07, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
Miles, don't forget that his name was not "Relocalized". His first USA game was called "The Legendary Starfy", not The Legendary "Stafy". Kperfekt Talk Is Cheap... But I Am Not. 18:11, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Wait... I think I read what you posted wrong. Either way, we should go by the current name. Kperfekt Talk Is Cheap... But I Am Not. 18:12, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
[1] Kindly take note of the name of the article, the name of each of the games, and what he's called throughout that article, and every other article on that series of games. His "current" name is Starfy, as it always has been. PenguinofDeath 20:39, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

sta(r)fy[edit]

So i read that link PoD post, and found out that:

  • he is called Starfy in english
  • he is called Stafy in japan

Which means starfy and stafy if the same, not misspell or sumthing. Nintendo is originally from japan (right?) and that's probably why they called it stafy....... Maybe Lucas-IV- Paper TosserLucas kirby.jpg 04:06, 18 June 2011 (EDT)

Actually read it, because you're missing the point. MegaTron1XD:p 09:09, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
which point? read which one?Lucas-IV- Paper TosserLucas kirby.jpg 09:15, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
He is not called stafy in Japan. Actually read what PoD said. DoctorPain99 (Talk • Contribs) DoctorPain99.png 10:10, 18 June 2011 (EDT)

"Scrapped playable character"[edit]

Remember how there used to be some biased trivia point that said because Starly is in Fighter Related, Starfy might have been meant to be a character before they cut him out for some reason? I think honestly we could bring that back, but mention the playable thing in a single sentence. Like how they do it on Starfy's own wiki:

  • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the trophy of Starfy ("Stafy")'s sister Starly ("Stapy") is indexed under the "Fighter Related" category, despite the fact that Starfy is not a playable character in the game. Furthermore, no Custom Robo or Animal Crossing trophies appear in the "Fighter Related" category, although Starfy, Ray MK III and Mr. Resetti all appear as Assist Trophies.
  • This has lead to some theories that Starfy may have been planned as a playable character at one point in the development of Brawl.

Consider it. --RoyboyX (talk) 11:05, 25 September 2011 (EDT)

That trivia seems fine to me, just change the "may have" to "was" in the second piece. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 11:08, 25 September 2011 (EDT)

Italics[edit]

Something in this article's code is weirdly affecting it and causing italics in places they don't belong. I've been trying but I can't seem to pin down the cause. Anybody see something I overlooked? Miles (talk) 12:40, 25 March 2014 (EDT)

I think I fixed it. DoctorPain99 12:44, 25 March 2014 (EDT)
