User:Amber Blackstar/Feedback
Like Miles and Serpent, I'm starting a feedback page too, in order to help keep an archive of what I need to keep doing, and what I need to improve upon. If you have any advice, constructive criticism, or compliments for me, please direct them here. I will try to reply to any and all feedback sent to me.
Good Feedback
- You're a great solid user with great dispute handling skills. You're active and willing to handle vandalism. You are constantly taking steps to support the wiki and I appreciate that. Serpent King 03:42, 20 November 2015 (EST)
- To parrot Serpent King, you have remarkable dispute skills, always help the wiki grow, are one of the friendliest and most newbie-comfortable users here, are just as if not more active than I am, handle a lot of large projects this guy doesn't, and are overall just an excellent user. Ganonmew, The Festive Evil Clone 22:10, 2 December 2015 (EST)
- active Poultry(talk) the Team Liquid 13:44, 27 March 2016 (EDT)
- Excellent admin, you're very active, very good at solving disputes, and very calm. -- BeepYou, a user with no grammar at all :v (talk) 18:29, 24 May 2016 (EDT)
- Not so active now, but it is worth mentioning that though you are the youngest established admin here, you are very good at handling conflicts, and despite your name, you have a noticeably longer temper and are much more tolerant of others than other admins. Keep up the great work. Iron Reggie, the Fearsome Warrior 02:29, 5 April 2018 (EDT)
Bad Feedback
- I feel like I am beating a dead horse here, but here it goes. You have a long way to go when it comes to actually adding content. Work on your wiki-markup skills, try to involve yourself in larger projects (it doesn't even have to be current stuff. You could work on Melee/Brawl stuff if you can find something), and get involved in more discussion. That's all I have, cheers to you DF. Serpent King 03:42, 20 November 2015 (EST)
- I'm with Serpent King that you are quite lacking in terms of actual content. Your skills with wikicode are still average, and your activity in sloving and taking action in disputes are still not great. Other than this you're good. Ganonmew, The Festive Evil Clone 22:10, 2 December 2015 (EST)
- You seem to be jumping into disputes despite knowing nothing about the dispute, which often makes it worse Poultry(talk) the Team Liquid 13:45, 27 March 2016 (EDT)
- Now that you have been administrator for some time and have thus worked out the kinks, I have a few things that I really want you to take to heart:
- I have noticed that when it comes to blocking, you tend to jump the gun a little, although this is something I have mentioned to you before. Try being fairer with the block too. I know it's hard not to just infinitely block the annoying pests, but in most cases it can be dealt with through other means. Also learn that the "do anything else wrong and I will block you" mindset is poisonous. Blocks for reoccurring offenses should be executed only if the SAME offense is reoccurring.
- Sometimes I notice that you revert peoples' edits for reasons that may not seem obvious to non-experienced editors then neglect to explain why the reversion was done on their talk page. You should do this more often.
- Try not to take stupid negative feedback (I personally think you are able to differentiate what negative feedback is constructive and what isn't) too seriously.
- Well uh...you aren't active much anymore? I dunno, I'm at a loss for words. Iron Reggie, the Fearsome Warrior 02:30, 5 April 2018 (EDT)
- Negative feedback was deleted back in 2016, because THEY thought it was unfair. ok. Thanks for using our old Netplay tournaments on top player pages as notable result. Even though this person told us multiple time that they weren't notable enough to have their own pages. Classic. Good thing online tournaments are finally making it to this platform after all the time we were refused to even have a place here, too bad it took so long, it could have been a much bigger thing if it wasn't for this stupidity. Evilpcx (talk) 01:08, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
- "it could have been a much bigger thing if it wasn't for this stupidity."
- If you're implying that being denied a SmashWiki article is what kept your online tournaments from blowing up... hahaha. Also weird that the very first edit you make in nearly three years is to complain at a retired admin that isn't going to see this anytime soon, if ever. Omega Tyrant 01:40, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
- Ah, the old "let's wait to talk shit about someone until they leave the room" card. You're not slick, I still have eyes on this wiki in case I ever need to return. When you have actual criticism that isn't just you being petty, then we'll talk. Disaster Flare (talk) 02:10, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
Take it how you want to take it, I didn't wait until you weren't there I have no idea who you are, I just know that it was you who I had to talk with during that time. That is all. Everything is in the past, and I have no intention of going back to those times, but some people needs to realise their mistakes and not delete history, weather they agree or not. I went back and noticed it, so I decided to leave a comment. I won't stand here being bullied by a few admins, If you want to talk then hit me up on twitter or discord, that is all. I was hoping of a more mature response after all those years. and Omega Tyrant, no I wasn't talking about this tournament series, I was talking about online Melee in general. Evilpcx (talk) 23:41, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
- "I was talking about online Melee in general"
- That's even sillier, no one is deciding to play in online Melee tourneys or not based on if SmashWiki has an article on some online tournament that 99.9% of readers will never see. Omega Tyrant 23:58, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
- Our tournament series at the time was the only prominent smashladder sponsored tournament series at the time, a lot of people that played in them are nowadays established players, and a lot of them were players that were working on getting better. Having a SSBwiki page for Online tournaments at the time would not have made a big difference I don't think, but what I'm saying isn't false either. People love seeing their name on pages, they can tell their friends hey look that's what I play and that player got top 3 look at his page, it's on a wiki (you know instead of being on a imgur link or whatever we ended doing at the time). When netplay tournaments had top 100 players, more than 100 entries, It would have been quite fun to have the seal of approval and found ourself a home at ssbwiki. Instead we got a response that ended up deleting all of our work on the wiki, which wasn't much mind you at the time, although I do think it was poorly handled with the likes of giving us multiple reasons onto why we couldn't at different time frames. The likes of, "Well your tournament isn't notable enough, there's not enough good players".. well fine, we did have a few with a good amount of players so only posting the big ones would be fine. But then we ended up getting the "Well actually, no we just don't publish netplay tournaments at all", and then a response close to "Actually we would if, bla bla bla.". Was kind of poorly handled in that sense. Professionally speaking it was a disaster and left all of us with a bitter taste in our mouths for sure. Now, as I said, Online melee I think could have gained a bit more traction if it ended up getting a bit more respect at the time, and maybe published a few article here and there. Nowadays, I don't care and I don't want anything to do with that tournament series, nor the people, nor the crew that was directing it, nor SSbwiki. We were already good enough on our own at the time without the help of SSBwiki, we had top players, a good playerbase but getting more exposure doesn't hurt anyone. And If you don't think a page of our crew at the time, Power rankings Weekly updated, Monthly tournaments, wouldn't have help the online community grow, then I can't say anything to that. Sincerly...(also I should add that, some of those comments refereed earlier to your "staff" were also deleted(which made matter even worst), and I did mention in my Original comment that it was from 2016~, so no I didn't expect a response and I wasn't trying to be "slick") Evilpcx (talk) 00:19, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- Are you really holding onto a grudge five years down the line? If "Having a SSBwiki page for Online tournaments at the time would not have made a big difference", then it's nothing to gripe about. You said this happened in 2016? Right now, we're in 2021. Aidan, the Rurouni 00:22, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- Flare isn't active here anymore. What's the point of this other than just wasting your time...? Omega Toad, the Toad Warrior. (I'm the best!) 00:26, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- I don't have anything to prove to anyone, I'd rather wait to talk to someone that can stay professional on this matter. I feel like I've mentioned this before, but, I've noticed the tournament was still in-use on someone's page and decided to look at history and saw that it was deleted here on this thread. I did not expect to have this conversation again, and I'm not here to fight about anything because I don't want any of that up on the website. I just posted because I felt like it was the right thing to do so, whether the person above is inactive or not. I'm just explaining why I did so. Evilpcx (talk) 00:32, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- "the the tournament"
- You may wanna check your grammar before posting, kid. Omega Toad, the Toad Warrior. (I'm the best!) 00:34, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- "It would have been quite fun to have the seal of approval"
- It's not the wiki's responsibility to endorse anything, nor should it being doing so as a neutral arbiter, an article existing or not is not any sort of "seal of approval", if you wanted to advertise your tournament you take elsewhere on social media sites where it's not only more appropriate but also a lot more effective. You're completely delusional if you think anyone's attendance of any tournament is decided by if they have a SmashWiki article or not, pretty much no one would have been seeing your article other than users doing janitorial work here that probably don't even play competitively. Omega Tyrant 00:44, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- I agree with the first part of your comment, that is not your role at all. and I disagree with the second part because I don't feel like I said any of that. I don't think having a wiki page would change a tournament's attendance lol.. Like I've mentioned before, Power rankings(better than most regions posted on this website), Some of the more prominent crews at the times (again), and some of the bigger tournaments would have still help in some capacity but I don't think of it as something like going from 40 to 400 lol. That's not what I said at all.(It would have maybe helped in the sense that if people saw those (because they would have been posted on our forum and whatnot.) It would have gathered a tad bit more attention, but like I said earlier there, It is not the website's problem. The problem I had, was how it was handled, so I think we're arguing about different things. Not only that but, I do feel like even though it wasn't the website's problem than maybe not all of it but most of it should have been accepted at the time in some capacity. Evilpcx (talk) 00:51, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- Thank you, I didn't notice. I'm sorry for mistakes, french is my main language. I'd rather you not call me kid.. Evilpcx (talk) 00:37, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
- I'm sorry, but I don't really understand your complaint. From what I can tell, you stated how you were upset that the wiki deleted your tournament series, yet now, you don't really care about that anymore. Apologize if I sound rude, but what's your purpose in bringing this up again? CookiesCreme 00:53, August 30, 2021 (EDT)
