Talk:Battlefield form
Umm
Why are all of the images screenshots of training mode? the game has been datamined and there are official screenshots of the battlefield forms and omega forms just like there are for the default forms. Why not use those? Aykrivwassup (talk) 22:32, 27 December 2018 (EST)
- I suppose we could, I mean, the game had been out for about three weeks, I think it'd be reasonable to have the official screenshots now. Sonic, the Cheerful Speedster 22:48, 27 December 2018 (EST)
Additional Ban-Worthy Δ/Ω Forms
I would have put this on the Tournament legal (SSBU) talk page, but I think I am unable to create the talk page because I do not have a Smash Wiki account, so instead I will leave this proposal here. I do not know a good way to get in contact with SSBU tournament organizers to hopefully make this proposal more wide-spread, but I believe this would be a decent place to start. Currently, a handful of Battlefield (Δ) and Final Destination (Ω) forms of stages due to their effects on gameplay. Stages that lack a Z-axis are banned because they have a significant impact on hitbox placement, and stages that conceal the ground (I'm pretty sure Windy Hill Zone is the only such stage) are banned because they can cover up traps laid by Snake or Isabelle. I would like to propose a third selection of Δ-form and Ω-form stages that ought to be banned in tournaments: stages with moving backgrounds that may induce motion sickness. I have compiled a list below of the stages that still move even when set to its Δ-form or Ω-form:
- Corneria
- Venom
- Big Blue
- Delfino Plaza
- Halberd
- Lylat Cruise
- Port Town Aero Dive
- Spirit Train
- Mario Circuit
- Skyloft
- Pilotwings
- Umbra Clock Tower
- Yggdrasil's Altar
- Spiral Mountain
I have excluded Mute City SNES since it is already banned for lacking a Z-axis, Rainbow Cruise since that stage's movement is hardly noticeable, and Final Destination since there's no questioning that stage's legality. From here, I believe the next step would be to figure out which of the 14 above stages have movement that is faster than Final Destination. I think stages that move slower than Final Desination probably don't deserve to be banned, but anything that moves significantly faster ought to be banned. This could also apply to stages that move in a certain way, like Spiral Mountain. I will attempt to do some testing of my own in the meantime and update this when my findings are conclusive, but more importantly I hope that this might raise some awareness to this potential issue that I don't see people bring up very often.
I'd also somehow like to popularize "Δ-form" as a shorter way to refer to Battlefield forms, but that's another subject entirely. --65.32.224.33 20:54, October 24, 2020 (EDT)
