Trivia
- Out of the first four installments (up to Smash 4) in the series, Super Smash Bros. Melee is the only one where there are placeholders for unlockable stages. Despite having 11 unlockable stages, there are 5 "?" marked boxes for unlockable stages. The 5 "?" marked boxes on Melee's stage selection screen represents the unlockables that were introduced in said game (with the exception of Flat Zone, past stages, and Super Smash Bros. universe stages which didn't have placeholders). In Smash 64, the placeholder slots for unlockable stages were absent, Melee had placeholders for unlockables (but only for the unlockables to be introduced in said game making a total of 5 "?" boxes), and in Brawl and Smash 4, the placeholder slots were once again removed.
- Up to Smash 4 (not Ultimate as all non DLC stages are available from the start), the Wii U version of Smash 4 is the only installment where playing VS. Mode matches does not unlock an unlockable stage. All unlockable stages have an unlock criterion which require no VS. Mode matches to unlock them.
