Final Destination Match (最終決戦, Final Battle) is the 50th and penultimate event match of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The player may choose any character, and has only 1 stock (as opposed to up to five), and must simultaneously fight both Master Hand and Crazy Hand as their opponents. The Hands will have 300 HP each (the same as when fighting them in Classic Mode on Normal difficulty). As implied by the name, the match takes place on Final Destination, the usual locale of Master Hand and Crazy Hand.
Unlike in Classic Mode, Crazy Hand is in the fight right away, rather than entering the fight when Master Hand's HP falls below the halfway point. With this, and the fact the player can only have one stock as opposed to up to five, this event is more difficult than the battle with them in Classic Mode, as the player must avoid both their attacks for at least half the match instead of one-fourth (assuming the player uses the strategy of focusing on and defeating one Hand before the other), while also having no stocks to spare.
Trivia
- If the player chooses Master Hand through the Master Hand glitch to complete this event, the background will not change throughout the match for unknown reasons. It is also possible for the player's Master Hand to perform combination attacks with the opposing Crazy Hand, the only situation where this can occur without hacking (as playing as Master Hand causes the game to freeze in Classic Mode).
- In some rare occasions, if playing as Master Hand, he will be facing the opposite direction.[1]
- If the player uses hacks to play as Crazy Hand, the player Crazy Hand will be facing the opposite direction, and Master Hand will not do combination attacks with the CPU Crazy Hand.[2]
- It isn't strictly necessary to have ever faced Crazy Hand in Classic Mode before unlocking (and playing) this event match, whereas most other events need to have their combatants unlocked or accessible first. In fact, part of the event's description ("now meet the left!") implies that this is the player's first encounter. In order to unlock this event, the player must have all unlockable characters unlocked and have completed all other 49 events first.
