We need to include a section about how glitches apply to the Super Smash Bros. series. MaskedMarth (t c) 13:12, September 7, 2007 (EDT)

I added the basics. Feel free to expand. WarxePB 15:24, September 7, 2007 (EDT)

I found a YouTube video of every glitch and trick in SSBB(at least, all the known ones and a few more). [1] is the video. I'm gonna put it up--Smorekingxg456 (talk) 20:48, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Wavedashing

Is it a glitch or not? I've heard arguments from both sides, and it seems like a glitch to me, just like something like missile canceling... I'm not sure where the defining point is... - Gargomon251 06:38, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

The same kind of people say the same thing about, things like the chain jacket glitch. If you can think of it- someone probably believes in it. --Kill Maim (talk) 08:48, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

A Simple Request.

Someone should add Glitches In Brawl at the bottom of the screen, As well as for melee and Super Smash Bros 64. If we already did it, it is either well hidden, or I am an idiot. Id do it myself, but I have no idea how.--Kill Maim (talk) 10:16, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think I could do it, assuming I get permission.--Kill Maim (talk) 10:19, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't really get what you mean... Do you mean putting a list of glitches at the bottom of the page? Or do you mean that there should be separate categories for glitches in each of SSB, Melee and Brawl? PenguinofDeath 10:37, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

You know how in the tech pages, you find techniques only usable in ssbm, or ssbb at the bottom. I think we should do that for glitches.--Kill Maim (talk) 11:07, 18 August 2009 (UTC) Or is that what you said?--Kill Maim (talk) 11:20, 18 August 2009 (UTC) Are you going to let me?--Kill Maim (talk) 14:39, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Do you mean adding something like the Techniques (SSB), Techniques (SSBM) and Techniques (SSBB) Categories? Perhaps Category:Glitches (SSB), Category:Glitches (SSBM) and Category:Glitches (SSBB). PenguinofDeath 15:05, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Taunt Victory Pose Glitch

So, something happened to me recently; when I was in a team match (me as Sheik, CPU partner as R.O.B.), I won the battle, but during the victory screen...R.O.B. performed his side taunt instead of a victory pose. I don't know what caused this, I didn't do anything unusual that might have caused it, and I just want to know if this is worthy of mentioning on a page. graphical glitches

While I was playing SSE and defeating false DiddyKong I encountered a weird graphical glitch. I managed to take a snapshot in time once: [2]

you can see there are circles as the background columns' texture and the rest of the BG was pure black. there were other moments of the glitch where there were distorted GameCube icons in the background and on the main platform (I couldn't take the snap because the graphics would glitch out the moment the snapshot was taken). This is probably a disc error, I don't know, and it's the first time this happened. I assure you I do not have the HBC installed. --93.41.210.48 06:58, 7 September 2014 (EDT)

Mega Man Mouth Glitch

Hello I'm new here, I created an account here because I think I have found a new glitch involving Mega Man. I went into Training mode as Duck Hunt and threw Mega Man across the stage, when I walked over to him he had a glitched up mouth with his teeth showing. When I hit him in the other direction the glitch went away. It seems to only work with a character that throws unlike Captain Falcon who kicks his opponent after picking them up and it doesn't work when you have the speed configuration on where it makes you hold L. I would post a picture but I don't know how. Logofanatic (talk) 17:20, 5 November 2014 (EST)

Hello. In order to post a picture, you need to be autoconfirmed, which you are not. As for the glitch, you can upload the image (when you're able to), but a video would be better, as we can see and verify the glitch's veracity. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect!!! 17:27, 5 November 2014 (EST)

Game/Console Breaker

The following is not meant to scare you. But no-one else has mentioned it, so I will.

There have been reports (and merley that) that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is causing Wii U consoles to... well, basically conk out. If someone attempts to access the game or data manaagement, the console reportedly shows an error screen. Now, to begin with, this just causes those two things to be unusable. However, attempting to format the console makes the entire thing useless. Now, I don't know the truth in these matters, but I've read multiple theories.

  • Some on SmashBoards seem to think the error is in the update data.
  • Some news sources are reporting that this bug has allways existed, and is now in the light.
  • Others are thinking it's related to quitting the game after playing For Glory.

Again, not trying to scare monger, but I needed to bring this up, and this seemed the best place. ScoreCounter 12:11, 2 December 2014 (EST)

Smash Wii U glitch

One Miiverse user named T-MAN ended up with a glitch on their copy of Smash Wii U. While they're unsure if it's the copy or the console itself, it is interesting to note. Here's a link to it [3] Pokedex649 (talk) 23:26, 7 December 2014 (EST)

This is a one-time thing. In other words, it's not really notable to mention as a "glitch", but it might be notable enough for mention as a "meme", but even that might be going too far. It's cool, let me tell you that, but I don't think it warrants a mention on this wiki—I really don't see a spot where we could put it (except on your userpage, but that's something different). Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 23:41, 7 December 2014 (EST)
I understand. While it is well-known, it doesn't seem to have any way to reproduce it, and even if there were, it may require a heavy amount of tinkering with the system. Pokedex649 (talk) 23:45, 7 December 2014 (EST)

Possible Wii U (1.0.0 only?) Music Glitch

It seems that, at least in version 1.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, music that hasn't been unlocked yet may play in its corresponding stage anyway at random. I experienced this while playing Smash against 3 CPUs on the Pyrosphere stage. The track "Psycho Bits" from Metroid Prime Hunters played, and since I was also a contributor to this wiki's Super Smash Bros. for Wii U music list, I clearly remember to have seen that "Psycho Bits" was a CD track and thus not available by default.

Sadly, I have no way to prove this with evidence as I have updated the game to 1.0.1 today. However, if true, any 100% vanilla copy of the game (that is, no updates and no mods -the later thing is obviously nonexistent as for now-) would very likely experience the same, unless my copy of the game is a 1 in 100000000 like the one with the odd graphical glitch.

I will update this if I find out this still happens on my game with the 1.0.1 update or if I find proof that it's not a glitch but just something that can normally happen at random times. I repeat, the alleged glitch happened while playing Smash. Not Events/Event Match. Not Classic Mode. Not All-star Mode. That's mostly why I'm intrigued as this, in my opinion, shouldn't be happening. If any of you have any info on this, please share it. Thanks everyone beforehand. -(Arikk (talk) 13:53, 26 December 2014 (EST))

(P.S.: In case it's an important thing to note: "Gusty Garden Galaxy" played on Mario Galaxy while playing Classic Mode; also without having been unlocked. IDK if that's normal or if it's also not meant to happen.)

Minor glitches

Should we get a list of glitches that are so minor that they don't deserve their own article? For example, in Melee's coin & bonus mode, the game will hint "Score +/-1" when you KO someone or die, even though that's not how the score is counted. – Smiddle 13:12, 18 October 2015 (EDT)

Amiibo Glitch that may need research

A user on Miiverse has posted videos where he shows off a glitch that according to him, requires 7 amiibos for an 8-player bout. Basically they are all the same character (in the case of non-Mii Fighters, all in different costumes), and player 1 can control all of them. The three replay videos he posted (as far as I know, he hasn't hacked the game):

Can someone verify this, or explain how this can occur? Berrenta (talk) 23:34, 30 December 2015 (EST)

List of glitches (SSB_)

I think it would be a good idea to make game-by-game pages like this for the sake of minimizing standalone glitch pages, which are usually quite short and of questionable standalone significance. Extremely well known examples (the Master Hand glitch and Black hole glitch, for example) would keep their own pages, but the rest would be merged into a single list where they could be better sorted and organized. Thoughts? Miles (talk) 15:09, 17 July 2016 (EDT)

I'd be cool with that. If we were to keep SleepSliding, that would seem like the most logical place for it to go. Disaster Flare Disaster Flare signature image.png (talk) 15:10, 17 July 2016 (EDT)
Maybe glitches that can crash the game can have it's own category? Kirby's Crazy Appetite ~ KirbysCrazyAppetiteSig.png 15:17, 17 July 2016 (EDT)
We already tried this and it got shot down (mostly by toomai). I see no reason to revisit it as nothing has changed between then and now. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:22, 17 July 2016 (EDT)

Mii Gunner Forward Smash

I think I discovered a glitch. I was playing as Mii Gunner, standard, no custom moves or equipment, three stock on Battlefield against Dr. Mario. I was using my forward Smash (The rapid fire bullet thing). However during the start-up lag, Dr. Mario used Super Sheet. Mii Gunner was turned around, and did the animation in the direction she was turned. However, the bullets appeared on the side she had been facing. I know that the hitboxes were moved as well, because Dr. Mario was standing inside the bullets. Is this of any note whatsoever? I imagine it is just one of many tiny visual glitches, but I just felt like I should mention it. 72.133.91.93 16:28, 30 July 2018 (EDT)Blueflame105

This is a pretty common type of graphical glitch that affects a few moves. Typically, once a graphic effect scheme has started, it cannot be reversed, even if the player and the hitboxes are reversed. There's not much point in listing all individual cases in which this can occur. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 16:35, 30 July 2018 (EDT)

Final Boss Glitch

So I encountered a very odd glitch when fighting Galeem and Dharkon. I had killed Dharkon and then killed Galeem just as Dharkon was just about to finish his death animation. For some odd reason, Dharkon was still alive, at 0 health and he was able to attack me even though I wasn't able to attack him. I also couldn't SD since my character would be stuck at the bottom of the blast zone. I also have photographic evidence of this. Has anyone else encountered it? Because I think it would be worth mentioning. Ice Cream Melee (talk) 13:27, 26 January 2019 (EST)

Stuck On Edge Glitch

I have discovered a glitch in brawl - if you're on one of the smaller platforms in the summit stage, and then dash, then try to turn around or stop dashing, the character will get stuck on the edge of the platform in whatever pose he/she was in when they hit the edge, until the point where you would stop dashing if you didn't do this glitch. --Justerfrog (talk) 15:29, May 25, 2019 (EDT)
