Trivia
- Final Fantasy is the only series represented by a fighter not to use any art originating from its own series for their Spirits, using only Cloud's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate art instead. It is also the only third-party series to do so.
- Final Fantasy is the only series represented by a fighter not to have any Spirits besides Fighter Spirits.
- Despite several Final Fantasy summon characters appearing on Midgar, their nature as special 2D sprites, and their other role as profile pictures in the previous game, they do not have Spirits.
- Before the final release of the game, several people believed that the Final Fantasy series had no Spirits at all, due to the SmashWiki itself having no Spirits listed for the Final Fantasy franchise; this, coupled with Midgar once again having only two songs for it, Cloud yet again being solely voiced in Japanese, and Cloud later reportedly not appearing within World of Light at all, led many fans to complain about Square Enix and their supposed "stingy" nature in regards to not letting Smash do much with Cloud. However, the misconception arose due to a rumor that Zack Fair was a Spirit (and presumably other Final Fantasy VII-related characters), and he was added to the SmashWiki's then-incomplete list of Final Fantasy Spirits, though, because no proof could be provided, Zack was later removed from the list. It is quite possible this all is due to conflicting copyrights and contracts Square had in place before their inclusion to Smash, such as the case with Cloud not speaking in English.
