Overview
Wolf calls in his Wolfen to hit his opponents. If it hits anyone, A cinematic cutscene triggers and Wolf says "The hunt is on boys" with it captioned. He and the Star Wolf crew shoots to create an explosion which launches the opponent that got hit.
Origin
Throughout the Star Fox series, the Star Wolf crew flies a fighter craft called the "Wolfen." It's been used to hunt down the Star Fox team. The idea of it being used in an airstrike is likely based off of the airstrike ability in Star Fox Guard where the player scans an amiibo for an Arwing airstrike to eliminate all enemies.
