Guide to Pillaring

How to Pillar

Falco's shine followed by a wavedash into a full-jumped, double-jumped, or short-hopped ADA (l-canceled), followed by another shine into a wavedash, into a full-jumped, double-jumped, or short-hopped ADA (l-canceled), et cetera, is called "pillaring."

Pillaring's Uses

Pillaring is used a lot in high-level play, and for a good reason. Pillaring can inflict heavy damage on certain characters such as Fox, Falco, and Captain Falcon. It can also be used to destroy shields, as the ADA's lag time is very short when l-canceled, and the shine comes out extremely fast, restricting your opponent's grab.

Technicalites

Of course, like other combos, pillaring can be influenced by DI (directional influence). If you aren't quick enough, your opponent can escape this combo.

Strategies

Against Fox in particular, pillaring is very effective. Example; shine the Fox, wavedash out of it quickly, then short-hop ADA the Fox, and repeat.
