- At Shine 2018, Salem, Mistake, and Tweek take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles; Zain, Hungrybox, and Mango take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles; SuPeRbOoMfAn, Lowww, and Josh Brody take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Smash 64 singles. ANTi & MkLeo take Super Smash Bros. for Wii U doubles; SFAT & PewPewU take Melee doubles; fidelcastro22 & Lowww take Smash 64 doubles.

- In the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct, Simon, King K. Rool, Richter, Chrom, and Dark Samus are confirmed as new fighters. Various returning stages are confirmed, as well as New Donk City Hall and Dracula's Castle. Several new items, Assist Trophies, Poké Ball Pokémon, and modes were also announced.
