Article on Wikipedia Sheriff (universe)

The Sheriff universe (シェリフ, Sheriff) is a universe that is represented in Super Smash Bros. 4 by the Sheriff assist trophy. The franchise consists of two games, Sheriff and a simplified remake named Sheriff 2, both developed by Nintendo for arcades in 1979.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

The titular Sheriff appears as a trophy.

In Super Smash Bros. 4

The Sheriff is an Assist Trophy in this game. When summoned, he will start shooting opponents with his gun.

Trivia

Sheriff is the first universe in the series to be represented in one installment, have no representation whatsoever in the next installment, and then get some representation again in the very next installment. This distinction would later be shared with Metal Gear and Joy Mech Fight, as both universes were first introduced in Brawl, had no content whatsoever in Super Smash Bros. 4, and would later have representation again in Ultimate.
