Mewtwo (ミュウツー, Mewtwo) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was confirmed on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Mewtwo's model features a more subdued color scheme, but otherwise appears unchanged.
  • Change Some of Mewtwo's attacks have been updated with new particle effects, including every attack that previously had the Darkness effect like its smash attacks and special moves.
  • Change Forward tilt has a new animation where Mewtwo spins horizontally to strike with its tail.

Ground Moves

  • Buff Forward tilt has an altered animation with quicker start-up and endlag.
  • Buff Forward tilt has more range and knockback.
  • Buff Forward smash can now be angled.
  • Buff Up smash's effect area has been enlarged.

Aerial Moves

  • Change Neutral aerial now causes Mewtwo to discharge electricity around itself, while flashing with a purple overlay.

Throws/other attacks

  • Change Back throw has an altered animation, with Mewtwo tossing the opponent over its shoulder nonchalantly.

Special Moves

  • Nerf Shadow Ball travels slightly slower.
  • Buff Confusion now allows Mewtwo to act before captured opponents can, allowing for combos.
  • Nerf Confusion is performed slower, making it more punishable, and also halts Mewtwo's momentum, worsening it as a recovery move.
  • Change Disable has a different animation, with Mewtwo spreading its arms out while flashing its eyes.
