Bayonetta (ベヨネッタ, Bayonetta) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was confirmed as a playable character on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

During the demo of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Bayonetta was nerfed because of her dominance on Smash 4. Nevertheless, she is still considered a strong character on this demo.

Aesthetics

• As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Bayonetta's model features a more subdued color scheme. Her model and textures otherwise appear unchanged.
• Love is Blue and Scarborough Fair have louder sound effects to distinguish the two.
• Bayonetta's taunts are sped up, though players can still cancel them.

Aerial Attacks

• Held neutral aerial appears to have increased landing lag.
• Forward aerial's knockback appears to have been altered. This means that the first hit of it can no longer combo into After Burner Kick.
• Down aerial's knockback appears to have been lowered.

Special moves

• Bullet Climax's charge can no longer be cancelled by shielding, rolling, or air dodging.
• If the first hit of Heel Slide is blocked by a shield, she will be unable to use the second hit.
• Downwards After Burner Kick can no longer be autocancelled.
• Witch Twist has increased startup; appears to be frame 6, as opposed to frame 4.
• Witch Time no longer grants intangibility when used.
  • Its duration has been lowered.
  • It has increased ending lag and cannot be interrupted as early when whiffed.
  • The screen turns dark whenever someone is affected by Witch Time.

Throws/other attacks

• Bayonetta's hand now grabs characters using a form of umbran magic, as seen via a slightly updated animation where she swings her hand around, which is sparkling with a noticeable umbran purple.
