Snake (SSBU)

Snake (スネーク, Snake) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Rather than Kiefer Sutherland, who voiced his predecessor in Metal Gear Solid 5, David Hayter confirmed on Twitter that he would be reprising his role as Snake.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Aesthetics

  • Change Snake retains his design from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which in turn is based off Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. His overall appearance is more detailed, most notably with his hair and facial hair, while his bandana has more noticeable creases, especially above his brow. Finally, his body suit appears less form-fitting, especially his behind.
  • Change Snake's series symbol has changed from the FOXHOUND logo to the well-known "!" Alert exclamation mark seen in Metal Gear Solid games.

Ground attacks

  • Nerf Up tilt's notorious invisible hitbox (which appears before his leg is extended) has been toned down or removed, significantly reducing the horizontal range of the move.
  • Buff Jumpsquat is faster.
  • Change Snake’s previous down smash has been changed into a double-sided kick.

Aerial attacks

  • Buff Forward aerial is slightly faster.

Special attacks

  • Buff Remote Missile travels faster.
  • Change C4 now emits a flashing red light for a few seconds after being placed, making it more visible.
