Alliance is a Swedish-centric pro gaming team. Founded by Razer and Evil Geniuses director Alex Garfield in early 2013, its original members were StarCraft II star Johan Lucchesi (NaNiwa) and an all-Swedish rising star Dota 2 team previously known as No Tidehunter - which included Akke, who had competed in Melee professionally as Sheik. Internationally, it is best known for its success in the Dota 2 arena - especially at The International 3 in August 2013, when it won the tournament and a $1.4 million first prize without losing a series.
On November 6th, 2014, it entered the Melee arena when it signed Armada.[1] Akke posted on his Twitter account a welcome on behalf of the Dota team[2] and responded to a fan asking if he, Loda and AdmiralBulldog could beat Armada in a handicap match with "Probably not."
On October 5th, Alliance announced that they would be expanding their Smash team by signing Armada's younger brother Android. [3]
On December 12th, 2016, Twitch spun-off Alliance along with Evil Geniuses into player-owned organizations.[4] All original Dota 2 members in addition to Armada got a percentage of the company.[5]
