Does it matter? It's my page, not yours. --Sky (t · c · w) 19:54, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello Blue Ninjakoopa 19:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
I herd u liek accessibility. Wtb a link if nothing else. --Shadowcrest 00:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey Sky. I don't think we've ever spoken before, but can I ask you for some help? You see, a few people, including myself, have noticed this, but something's wrong with the numbering for some reason. For example:

  1. It appears with 1 for each #.
  2. I asked Miles, saying it might be something with the MediaWiki.
  3. And he said I should ask you, since you know more about this MediaWiki stuff (plus, only sysops can edit protected pages)
So you think you can fix this? If you can, thanks. MarioGalaxyTalk 22:35, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
It's a known IE7 bug- they're working on fixing it. --Shadowcrest 22:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for clearing it up, Shadowcrest. MarioGalaxyTalk 22:43, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Nice deletes

It's beautiful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Semicolon (talkcontribs)

I know. Also, don't tag all the broken redirects which will be left over. There are a few left in the category which will need a couple others to agree, as I didn't, but for the most part, good work tagging. --Sky (t · c · w) 03:12, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Whoa, the recent changes are all deletes.Smoreking(T) (c) 15:23, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

SVG Smash ball

Hmm.. that's gonna be a tough one. I just installed a free SVG program called Inkscape, and I'm trying to learn how to use it properly. I'll let you know if/when I'm able to remake the Smash ball in SVG format. JoePlay (talk) 18:17, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Just letting you know I uploaded SmashBall.svg. Way back in college, I used Adobe Illustrator and this free program I installed is very similar. Basically I drew a circle, then drew on the white "stripes" and curved the ends of the stripes to match the curve of the circle. It was fun to re-learn something I hadn't done in many years. =) JoePlay (talk) 15:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

What's with all the unprotecting?

Not that I oppose, I'm just curious. Has a policy been passed, or something? GutripperSpeak

Probably because there's no point in protecting archives... Friedbeef1 1/26/09! 22:52, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Basically that. --Sky (t · c · w) 22:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Do you hate me or something?

Every time I suggest something, you're suddenly there to shut it down. So do you hate me, or do I just make stupid suggestions :| Smoreking(T) (c) 23:27, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

I hate very few, so more or else the 2nd. --Sky (t · c · w) 23:29, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Broken redirects...

Uh.. why? I thought that it would be better to tag and get rid of them quickly to get them off of server space... Friedbeef1 Love 04:27, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

What are you doing??

Please, for the love of God, don't remove the ability to reshape and size YT videos. Please. Blue Ninjakoopa 22:09, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I have a bit on an issue. I have noticed the increasing number of users who are saying things like "Jesus Christ" or "For Christ's sake!". I am sure there are people out there who would really find this offensive to their religion. Is there anyway we can stop people talking like this? It is almost like racist language to some people I know. GutripperSpeak

We can't stop people from cursing, which some people find offensive. Even racism, which is near universally offensive, is generally something that admins shouldn't get involved in. Unless it is so clearly over the top that it would just be wrong not to delete it, then we should probably leave it.
Have you ever heard any jokes about how Jews are cheap? How Mexican people are lazy? How all Muslims are terrorists? How Chinese people can't drive well? How blondes are dumb? Have you ever laughed at a joke like that? It's unrealistic to expect people to change their system of speech/humor simply because it offends you. In the back of their mind, they're probably even vaguely aware that what they say could possibly cause offense. But you have to remember: they're probably not doing it just to make you mad.
General rule of thumb is that censorship is bad. Unless there is something so horrible that it's unethical to leave it up, it probably doesn't need to be censored. To those of you who are offended by such popular remarks, I say: welcome to the internet. If that honestly and truly offends you, then you obviously haven't been to encyclopedia dramatica's 'offended' article (and if you haven't, I highly recommend you never, ever go there). It is unrealistic to expect people to stop using casual remarks they hear and use all the time IRL- especially when you factor in the fact that on sites such as these, religion and such are often something of a community joke.
tl;dr version: This is the internet, where you need a tough skin to survive. While you are certainly able to ask people to stop using comments that offend you, you are not welcome to do it while threatening them with a banstick. Most requests we make as administrators get taken as a command. "Can you please tag your images with the correct licensing when you upload them" often translates to "Tag your images when you upload or we'll ban you." That's not the way it should work, but that's how it does- and we have to account for that. So asking such a thing as an administrator is basically making a policy "SmashWiki:Don't use God's name in vain", and we shouldn't do that. We're the administrators of SmashWiki, not Conservapedia- comments like and such as these don't need censorship here, especially when they are so borderline offensive to begin with. --Shadowcrest 21:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Addendum: I can see why you and some others may be offended by it, and I'm sorry that you have to deal with it on the internet if not in real life. But truly, censorship is not something that we should condone. :( --Shadowcrest 01:30, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Redirects for signature images

SW:SIGN says: "The icon's image file should be exclusive for the signature, not shared with anything in SmashWiki. This allows for a redirect on the image file to the user page or the user talk page. Note: The image can be a duplicate of another image, if it's resized appropriately."

Maybe I am confused because this is the same wording as the image policy of GuildWiki (which SW's is based off), and we typically redirect signature images to one's userpage/talkpage... but it seems there's a disparity here. Either signature images ought to be redirected, as the policy implies, or they should merely have a link, as your edit to my signature image suggests. I don't know, it seems like I'm just missing something here.

If I'm coming across as WikiLawyering, I apologize; I don't actually care either way, was just curious.   (T/C) 12:07, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

There's no need to call me an idiot just because I put these "][" things on for a link. I put a reason in, and nothing came out. At least say something like "You're wrong" or something else. ~Teh Blue Blur~~You're too slow!~ 14:47, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Any new reason that that page was deleted? Semi and I figured it was borderline but OK. He's got tourney info and the like... Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 01:06, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

To go along with what C. Hawk said, I don't think WP:NOTE|this]] exists nor does it have anything to do with SmashWiki. I'm trying so hard not to think that you and FyreNWater are out to get me but you're making it really difficult. Blue Ninjakoopa 02:43, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

why wasn't my smasher page notable enough though? ;~; Blue Ninjakoopa 04:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Hold up...does this mean my article's not legit either? I haven't exactly updated it lately but I've been hosting tourneys like every week with somewhere between 40-60 entrants a night. People have been telling me I'm an excellent host as well. Heck, I've actually declared hosting as my primary function in the Smash community. If I add that info to the article, does that make it legit? Shade487z 16:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
