Chikorita (チコリータ, Chicorita) is a creature from the Pokémon series.
OriginEdit
Chikorita is the basic Grass-type Starter Pokémon of Generation II, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #152 as the "Leaf Pokémon". It evolves into Bayleef at level 16 and then into Meganium at level 32. It can learn Razor Leaf at an early level in every game where it appears. It is registered as #001 in the Johto Pokédex and #152 in the National Pokédex.
Razor Leaf is a damage-dealing Grass-type move introduced in Generation I. Sharp-edged leaves are launched to slash at the opposing Pokémon.
In Super Smash Bros. MeleeEdit
As a Poké Ball PokémonEdit
Chikorita made its debut in Super Smash Bros. Melee with its attack, Razor Leaf. Chikorita will start shaking its head and send out a barrage of leaves from its head: the leaves travel in a straight line, dealing slash damage to opponents. The attack is rather brief and easily avoided, but as it consists of multiple, quick hits it can be rather difficult to get out of.
As a stage elementEdit
Chikorita makes an appearance as one of the Pokemon on the Poké Floats stage. It enters as Psyduck begins rising. Its leaf is treated as a soft platform, while its body and head are hard terrain.
TrophyEdit
- Chikorita
- Chikorita was one of the first three Pokémon available in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. A Grass-type Pokémon, it emits a delightful fragrance from the leaves on its head and loves to spend its time leisurely sunbathing. When called into battle, it uses its Razor Leaf move to strike at opponents' weak points.

In Super Smash Bros. BrawlEdit
As a Poké Ball PokémonEdit
Chikorita returns in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Chikorita's function is unchanged from its Melee incarnation. Despite its appearance it still deals slash damage instead of the newly introduced grass.
TrophyEdit
- Chikorita
- A Leaf Pokémon. It loves sunbathing and can use the leaf on its head to check the temperature and humidity around it. Chikorita releases a sweet aroma from its leaf to becalm opponents into a slumber. It can also learn moves to help recover all Pokémon allies. Chikorita evolves into Bayleef by leveling up.
