Why did you delete this? I'm new here, so I didn't know what I was doing, but all you said was Nope, which doesn't explain why you deleted his page. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:27, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

Then perhaps you should check the previous delete reason :) Serpent   King 20:28, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
I did, but what I did wasn't vandalism, so give me a real reason for the deletion. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:31, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
Yeah uh...vandalism isn't the only possible reason for deletion. It got deleted because cobi does not meet our notability standards. Serpent   King 20:34, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
Not to make a fuss, but how is he not notable? He has over 1M subs, so he should be recognizable. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:38, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
But he doesn't play Smash competitively. And if he did he is bad. That's all he needs to not meet notability standards. --  BeepYou: is he leaving the wiki? (talk) 20:41, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
I guess that's logical enough. Sorry. Peter MacTavish-Rosales (talk) 20:42, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

NONE.

I know you've looked into stages like DUMMY and ICETOP to see why they crash the game. Can you analyse what causes NONE to crash the game?

--- Monsieur Crow, Author Extraordinaire, 14:46, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

I can try, gimme a sec. Serpent   King 14:47, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Ok this is what I got. Here's what I know:
  1. GALE01 is NTSC v1.2's internal codename. A usd file stands for "Universal Scene Description" and is used for 3D modeling, so we can assume that the file is an archive for model files.
  2. The game tried the following comparison: "entry_num != -1" (variable "entry_num" is not equal to -1) and failed, and from that I assume that NONE's character id is -1 which would make sense.
These are unfortunately inconclusive bits of information, other than it tried and failed to load the character, which is something we already know. Serpent   King 15:00, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Actually, now that I think about it, the only things that could make "entry_num != -1" fail would be if entry_num were out of range (unlikely), not a number (more unlikely), or null (very likely). If the "entry_num" is the variable that holds the character's id and it came up null, that would mean that NONE does not have an ID hence the crash. Serpent   King 15:14, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

Akaneia

I undid your edit to debug menu (SSBM) because the game in which Archanea appears was released in 1990, which is before Melee's release (see here). 71.8.148.148 16:45, 9 August 2016 (EDT)

This is how you treat people!!!

Excuse me Serpent, but I am asking you to restore the pages I made regarding various eSports teams. I put a LOT of effort in making those pages, even sourcing them to improve their notability. Then you go and become the shady snake you are and poison all of my work, which I spent lots of time building those pages. To tell you the truth, those pages were actually relevant to the wiki. To think you're one of the smartest admins on the wiki, you're actually TriForce in disguise, spreading your shady behavior all over the wiki as well as deleting other people's pages that they put plenty of time making. I made pages for IMT, NRG, Circa, idk what else, but I'm requesting a full on revival in a #FREELEFFEN matter, even if you dislike SmashWiki's eSports coverage. Would you delete for example K.I.D. Goggles, because he isn't named ZeRo. NO!! I'd do the same for those teams, even if their names are not TSM, CLG, or EG, for your information, IMT, and NRG are basically mainstream teams, and if you do plan on reviving them, please insist on putting their respective Wikipedia articles in their pages. Sorry for being harsh, but I hate it when I lose a lot of credit for work that I've contributed to this site. Thank you for your time. --  The Combo King (Thanks for Playing, GGs) 18:57, 20 October 2016 (EDT)

I might not be involved in this trouble in any way whatsoever, and should not involve myself either. But "you go and become the shady snake you are and poison all of my work" and "you're actually TriForce in disguise" are examples of breaking SW:NPA, because they do sound a lot like a personal attack. Being mad for losing a lot of credit for your contributions is no excuse to insult anybody. Sorry for that. --  Merry Christ... I mean, Happy Halloween from BeepYou... (talk) 19:09, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
  1. Talking to me like that is not going to get you very far. If you really want to appeal a decision made by an admin, you should do it in a more civil manner.
  2. Team/Crew pages need to have a higher notability standard than exists right now. There are way too many nobody crew articles at the moment. I do not find esports teams notable enough to have a page for each one, but if we were to combine them into one, then maybe. You should possibly put up a poll on that.
That's all. Serpent   King 19:10, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
@BeepYou please remember that a lot of times, it is not necessary to jump in and call people out on NPA, especially when it is this minor. Thanks for trying to help though Serpent   King 19:13, 20 October 2016 (EDT)
Sorry... this is another reason I am often inactive, to avoid pissing people for minor reasons... --  Merry Christ... I mean, Happy Halloween from BeepYou... (talk) 19:16, 20 October 2016 (EDT)

Hitboxes

Hey Serpent King, I know it's been a few months and you probably don't remember me, but I have been working tirelessly, and have finally finished recording all of the hitbox data for all of the Smash 4 characters' moves. However, before I start editing willy-nilly and probably messing up a lot of formatting and creating a lot of unnecessary cleanup for the admins, I want to ask a few things to clarify and make sure I have them right.

For standardization purposes, do you want me to format the hitbox tables in hexadecimal or decimal? Also, for the moves that don't have pages yet, do you want me to write an overview/description of the move and include a picture? Or is there somebody else that we usually have do that?

Thanks! CpnFlacon (talk) 16:13, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

I am pretty sure we have all of our info in decimal form so yeah, go ahead and do that (just make sure you are converting correctly). As for the overview and picture, that's up to you. We would of course prefer the page be completed, but that task does not necessarily fall to you. Serpent   King 16:19, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
Thank you! I'll get working on those conversions. Also, one thing I did have trouble with was figuring out the sfx and slvls, since those seem somewhat arbitrary. Is there a source I can go to for official data on that so I'm not just guessing what constitutes small, medium or large sounds? CpnFlacon (talk) 16:31, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
Oh yeah also how do I format a trip value of 3e4ccccc or 3e800000 as a percent value? CpnFlacon (talk) 16:53, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
I am actually not entirely sure how non-whole number conversions work, sorry Serpent   King 16:59, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
This is probably more up Toomai's ally than mine. Serpent   King 17:01, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

There was a page a while back that you deleted called Smasher:Goop, i have found notable results for him so can you recreate the page and i'll fix it up with results?  Poultry (talk) the God-Slayer 14:57, 8 November 2016 (EST)

Sure thing. Serpent   King 14:58, 8 November 2016 (EST)

Regarding competitive history pages

Two main things I want to point out:

  1. Brawl is more of a "closed" scene insofar as it's not particularly active anymore, making it a more workable subject to write about "historically" than an ongoing, current scene.
  2. This one's more of a personal foible, but I utterly hate the shorthand "Smash 4" and would prefer to see it be "SSB4" instead. I didn't really want to raise a whole ruckus over that one, so I thought I'd bypass it for a while by requesting Brawl instead. :v

Miles (talk) 11:51, 15 November 2016 (EST)

I was actually thinking about that myself, and I don't have a problem with that name. I was kinda wondering if we shouldn't just do like "History of competitive Smash (SSB4)" and convert the others accordingly or what. That would also solve the sticky problem that is the original 64 versions name. Serpent   King 13:53, 15 November 2016 (EST)
Also I see what you are saying about doing Brawl first, but to me it seems better to do the more "important" games first (being that Melee and Smash 4 are currently dominating (and will most likely continue to dominate) the scene). Serpent   King 13:55, 15 November 2016 (EST)
Your points are totally valid as well. The "History of competitive Smash (SSB4)" kind of name would work as well, although at that point it's wordy enough that we almost would be better off finding a different way of naming it altogether... something like "Super Smash Bros. Whichever in competitive play", maybe? Miles (talk) 14:55, 15 November 2016 (EST)
We could just do "Competitive Smash (whatever)" I guess. Serpent   King 14:57, 15 November 2016 (EST)

Would you consider these notable at this point?

Hello Serpent King. :D

I would like to know if you personally consider Renegades and Luminosity Gaming notable enough for SmashWiki. I would like to break down the teams. Both of them have smashers representing two different games (both have an SSB4 and a Melee player).

  • RNG has Dabuz  and Swedish Delight  (the former notably being the most consistent Smash 4 player)
  • LG has Abadango  and Ice  (two of the best players in their respective games, bonus points for neither of them being American on a US-based team).

What's your opinion regarding Luminosity and Renegades? Also, sorry about the NPA violation a while back. Thanks a million. --  Falcon-X (Freedom House) 15:30, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Not a problem, and a few things
  1. You are using the Sm template wrong (there is no need for the flag template at all). Just do {{Sm|Dabuz|USA}} to get   Dabuz in the future. Thanks!
  2. As for your question, I would seriously prefer that crews be limited to famous ones (like H2YL, Melee Hell, MLG, etc) Serpent   King 15:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Hope I didn't make a headache for ya

In regards to the Knockback page, specifically the Melee Formula, I've tried to make it look more in line with the rest of the wiki and wanted to actually know if you think the RAW formula (how the game actually calculates it) should be on that page or if the simplified version I made should. You can see the differences here: [1] and [2]. I kinda think the latter, more difficult to read, might be better to have just because it's more precise, and if anyone looks it up on here hoping to use it for a knockback calculator or to emulate Melee it would be better. But then again, if someone's just trying to look up the formula to get a rough idea of how the mechanic works and be able to easily tell what weights the formula the simplified version would be much better. You're the wiki pro so hopefully you can decide easier than I can. I'll check back here in a few hours! —Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎Dippndots (talkcontribs) 17:34, 17 November 2016 (EST)

I think the simplified version is enough. We definitely do not need two though. Serpent   King 17:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)
If you don't mind, I'm going to do a bit of altering so that the formula looks closer to what we have for the other games. Toomai Glittershine   The Rainbow 18:38, 17 November 2016 (EST)
As it turns out, once you do enough math, the Melee formula ends up being exactly equal to the Brawl/SSB4 formula. So for simplicity I think it's best to keep things the way we had them before, with one formula for SSB64 and one for the other games. Toomai Glittershine   The Boss 19:22, 17 November 2016 (EST)
huh. Ok wow I wasn't checking against that. All I did was make sure the simplified version was equal to the original (which it is, gj). Serpent   King 19:37, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Hey guys, can you take another look? The formula you have on there currently doesn't account for staled moves which the one I put up does. The smashboards post is here: https://smashboards.com/threads/melee-hacks-and-you-new-hackers-start-here-in-the-op.247119/page-128#post-20927705 - Staled moves can actually affect knockback n Melee Dippndots (talk) 20:02, 17 November 2016 (EST)

Staled moves cannot directly affect KB in Melee, it's been proven. However since the damage dealt is a factor for knockback, staled moves will affect it that way. Serpent   King 20:12, 17 November 2016 (EST)
A very prominent modder who has looked at the assembly calculation disagrees. I don't mean to be difficult. Dippndots (talk) 20:16, 17 November 2016 (EST)
