2GGT: Mexico Saga is a national Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament held at the eSports Arena center in Santa Ana, California on June 4th, 2016. 11 smashers from Mexico attended the event, along with out-of-state American competitors including The Wall and Zinoto. ZeRo, winner of 2GGT: Fatality, ESAM, and EE Saga, attended the event after having not played in a SoCal tournament for nearly three months. The venue opened one day prior to the official event to allow for free play time as well as giving attendees an opportunity to pre-register in person and leave setups overnight. A special event, a 5v5 SoCal vs. Mexico crew battle, occurred at 4 PM on the event day, resulting in a SoCal win. The event was streamed by 2GGaming. With its final entrant count of 413 for singles, 2GGT: Mexico Saga became the largest one day tournament in Smash history, although it was eventually surpassed by 2GGT: KTAR Saga with 414 entrants.

Trivia

The banner used for the 5v5.
  • At the 5v5 SoCal vs. Mexico crew battle side-event, Tyrant, K9sbruce, Larry Lurr, VoiD, and ZeRo teamed up to form the SoCal crew while Z0mfg, Meme, Kevin, IC, and Hyuga formed the Mexico crew.
    • In the end, the SoCal crew triumphed against the Mexico crew.
  • As an act of friendship between SoCal and Mexico, a Donald Trump piñata was presented and pulled in half by the two communities following the crew battle.
    • In the aftermath, VoiD's hand was accidentally stepped on, likely leading to his subpar 17th place finish.
  • Furthermore, The Wall was invited partially as a joke relating to Trump's infamous statement about building a wall on the border of the United States and Mexico.
