The Evolution 2008, or simply EVO 2008, was the 7th edition of the Evolution Championship Series, a fighting game tournament held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, which took place from August 8th to 10th, 2008 at the Tropicana Las Vegas.

It was the second time EVO featured a Smash game on the official lineup, with Super Smash Bros. Brawl replacing Super Smash Bros. Melee from 2007. EVO 2008 was widely criticized for its ruleset which allowed items, including the Smash Ball.
