Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Next time we should do a Smash Arena with users... (ex. Bandit vs Dots) FishPlay   20:59, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

I agree, but every match that had me in it would be one sided, probably because I'm one of the most disliked users here >:( Bandit 21:05, 14 September 2012 (EDT)
One, suggestions go here, and two, a match with users would never pass suggestions anyway. Air Conditioner   I get by with a little help from my friends! 21:06, 14 September 2012 (EDT)
Actually I'm probably even worse. :P And I don't think this is a proper suggestion. Dots The Laser   23:50, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

Round 154: Hero's Bow vs. Palutena's Arrow

Winner!!
Tie

16.5 to 16.5
Two moves which involve shooting arrows at people - one of them physical shafts of wood and flint, the other curved beams of energy. Which pointy projectile's aim is truer?

Votes for Hero's Bow

  1. I don't play as either one of these two to be any sort of familiar with their bows, but I do play the Zelda games, so... JamesHeart123 02:24, 8 September 2012 (EDT)

  10. I prefer being able to hold the fully charged arrow as long as I like. You can do that with Link, but with Pit it eventually fires. 110.174.90.69 02:33, 9 September 2012 (EDT)

  9. Better? FishPlay   18:55, 8 September 2012 (EDT)
  10. Palutena's Arrow is superior in everyway with its shots always going straight, its shots are also faster, and that you can aim any direction with controllable trajestory. The only edge that it doesn't have is that it can be absorbed by Oil Panic and PK Magnet. :P Other than that, its better. Dots The Bomb   21:41, 8 September 2012 (EDT)

  16. As much as I love Link and the Hero's Bow (its SSB Brawl portrayal doesn't do it enough justice in my opinion; The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is where it truly shines), I'll have to go with Pit and Palutena's Bow and Arrow. A beautiful arrow animation with arrows made to strike foes with bundles of blue light...simply amazing (not to mention how the golden rings on Pit's wrist seamlessly slide onto the bow as it charges, returning to Pit's wrist as an arrow is loosed). Additionally, these arrows of light have more individual freedom of movement, and I like how one can perform a 180˚and 360˚reversal with the bow itself when firing arrows. Furthermore, I love the idea of Pit's bow splitting into two short swords on the fly for Dual Wielding purposes, able to be combined again at a second's notice for uses in archery - excellent execution of manifesting the Bow And Sword In Accord trope within a single weapon; whoever came up with that mechanic for Pit's fighting style deserves a medal. Finally, the Arrow Looping/Rain technique(s) say hi! Fenyx4 (talk) 19:45, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

  1. I mean your are shooting LIGHT at youre opponents the only thing that could be better than that would be like shooting the entire sun at your opponent plus you can (sort of) change the trajectory. What isn't good about it! One last thing is the fact that if your enemies try to hide from Pit he can and will shoot with again LIGHT which is EVERYWHERE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PengyPenguin (talkcontribs) 19:39, 2012 September 13‎

I think it would have been nice if Zelda/Sheik's Light Arrow technique were included in this match, despite being a Final Smash. Fenyx4 (talk) 19:45, 14 September 2012 (EDT)
